The Middlebury nordic ski team opened its schedule at the Colby Carnival with races at the Quarry Road Trail. Saturday's events were canceled due to weather, with the women's 5K and men's 10K classical events taking place on Sunday. The Panthers finished the carnival third overall with 730 points, trailing Dartmouth (966) and Vermont (946). The team is back in action next weekend at the St. Michael's Carnival.
Both the Middlebury men's and women's teams got their seasons off to a great start with third-places finishes in their respective events. Peter Wolter opened his collegiate career by skiing to seventh overall in the race with a time of 28:47. Rounding out the team's scorers was Adam Luban, who crossed the line with a time of 29:12, good for 16th place in the 10K race.
