Ski Team Places Third at EISA Championships

The Middlebury ski teams placed third overall for the third-straight weekend, accomplishing the feat at the EISA Championships hosted by Bates at Sunday River and Black Mountain. Dartmouth won the title with 896 points, followed by UVM (820), the Panthers (659) and UNH (634). Individual qualifiers will return to action from March 8-11 at the NCAA Championships hosted by the University of New Hampshire.

Rob Cone notched his eighth-career alpine win for the Panther men on Saturday, leading his team to a second-place finish in the slalom. Cone's two-run combined time of 1:51.03 was tops among a field that saw 25 racers not finish the first run. Cone has now won three of his last six races. Colin Hayes earned his sixth top-10 finish of the season, completing the event with a time of 1:54.13, good for ninth place. Rounding out the scorers was Devon Cardamone, whose time of 1:55.49 placed him 16th.

The women's squad was paced by Caroline Bartlett, who finished the event in 11th place with a two-run time of 1:55.01. Her finish was a season-best in the slalom. Jackie Atkins earned a 16th-place finish (1:56.76), while Lexi Calcagni was 25th (2:02.88).

Sam Wood was the top nordic finisher on day two, placing 14th overall in the 20K freestyle race with a time of 53:07. Adam Luban crossed the line in 55:36 to finish 31st, while Jacob Volz wasn't far behind in 35th place (55:41).

The Panther women were paced by Kaitlin Fink, who covered the 15K free course in 47:34 to place 17th. Middlebury's next two finishers occupied 26th and 27th places, as Katie Feldman (48:34) and Cate Brams (48:42) occupied the spots.
