Nordic Racers Compete on Day One at UVM Carnival

The nordic ski team returned to action, taking part in the University of Vermont Carnival at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center, due to a lack of snow at Trapp Family Lodge. Action resumes on Sunday with the conclusion of the carnival, featuring the men's and women's 10K classic races.

The Panther women were paced by the one-two punch of Kelsey Phinney and Annie Pokorny. Phinney was second overall in the 5K freestyle, crossing the line with a time of 11:57. Competing in her first race since returning to Middlebury, Pokorny earned a fourth-place finish with a time of 12:04. Nicolette Amber was the team's final scorer, turning in a 23rd-place finish in 12:37.

Patrick McElravey led the Middlebury men in the 10K freestyle, placing seventh overall with a time of 22:07. Next for the squad was Lewis Nottonson, who crossed the line in 31st place overall in 23:01. Rounding out the team's scorers was Sam Wood with a 35th-place effort in a time of 23:15.
