The alpine ski teams returned to action on Sunday, just one day after racing at the UNH Carnival. The team took part in day two of the UVM Carnival, which was postponed back on January 11th. The slalom event took place at Spruce Peak at the Stowe Mountain Resort. The Panther men highlighted the day with a second place overall finish.
The men’s squad placed five men in the top 22, led by a third place finish from Hig Roberts (1:34.93). Liam Mulhern had the second-fastest time during the second run, moving from 23rd to seventh place overall (1:36.60). Colin Hayes wrapped up the scorers by holding down the final spot in the top 10 (1:36.77).
The women’s team wasn’t as fortunate in the slalom, with only a pair of finishers. Kara Shaw led the team with a 16th place (1:41.03) finish overall, followed by Yina Moe-Lange (1:41.07). Katelyn Barclay crashed on her second run, while Elle Gilbert and Lisa Schroer each hooked a tip in the first run.
The UVM carnival will complete following the nordic events on January 31st and February 1st. The alpine squads will be off next week, returning to action at the Dartmouth Carnival on February 7th and 8th.
