The Middlebury ski team finished in third place overall at the 90th annual Middlebury College winter carnival. UVM won the event (933), followed by Dartmouth (859), Middlebury (766) and UNH (734). The men’s GS team earned the best finish of the day, placing second overall.
The top finish was much-in-part to the three-four finish from David Donaldson and Hig Roberts. Donaldson covered the course in 2:03.42, while Roberts was as close behind as he could be, coming in at 2:03.43. Andrew McNealus rounded out the scorers with a 10th place finish (2:03.81), while Bryan Shpall was 12th (2:04.36).
The Panther women were paced by Mary Sackbauer, who earned a second place overall finish with a time of 2:10.48. Next for the Panthers was Kara Shaw in 14th place (2:13.02), followed by Kerry Daigle in 29th (2:14.73).
Ben Lustgarten had the best nordic finish of the day, coming in fourth in the men’s 20K freestyle race with a time of 46:17. Austin Cobb finished the event in 13th place (47:32), while Dylan McGarthwaite was 22nd (48:53).
After her win on Saturday, Annie Pokorny earned another top 10 finish, placing eighth in the 15K freestyle event in 41:24. Heather Mooney placed 19th (43:01) and was followed closely by Issy Pelletier in 20th (43:03).
