The Middlebury cross country teams each ran on their home course, hosting the 2019 Aldrich Invitational Saturday with the women claiming the team title and the men placing third. The 17th-ranked Panther women had five runners in the top 10 and the 22nd-ranked men recorded three of the top-15 place winners. The women finished with 24 points followed by St. Lawrence with 36, while the men collected 77 points, trailing both St. Lawrence (28) and Vermont (41). Middlebury returns to action next Saturday at the Williams' Purple Valley Classic.
For the men, Alexander Kessler was the top Panther finisher in the field of 93 runners, completing the 8K race in 26:52.4 to place eighth. Connor Montgomery ran a time of 27:25.8 for a 12th-place finish, while Liam Hoagland (27:46.2) was three spots behind him. Nicolas Paneto was 21st with a time 28:07.4 and Max Cluss rounded out the scoring, finishing in the 24th slot at 28:19.1.
Patrick Mortensen from St. Lawrence was the top finisher with a time of 26:24.4.
On the women's side, Talia Ruxin placed second out of 65 competitors in the 6K race, boasting a time of 22:43.5, while Chloe Smith was second in 23:20.6. Emily Vivanco placed seventh starting a run of three-straight Middlebury finishers, with a clocking of 24:09.2. Phoebe Colvin Oehmig crossed the finish line eighth in 24:17.2 with Sophie Nardelli taking ninth in 24:25.5.
Plattsburgh State's Jasmine Roberts won the race in 22:37.2.
