Panther Cross Country Teams Post Strong Finishes at NCAA Meet

The fifth-ranked Middlebury women's cross country team finished eighth among 32 teams competing, while the 13th-ranked men were 15th at the NCAA Championships. Races were hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh at the Lake Breeze Golf Club. 

On the men's side, North Central (Ill.) won the team crown with 43 points, followed by Washington-St. Louis (110) and Wisconsin-La Crosse (127). Middlebury had 411 points to place 15th. North Central's Dhruvil Patel posted an individual victory with a time of 24:24.5.

The Panther men were paced by Henry Fleming in 60th place among 280 competitors with a time of 25:18.9. Theo Henderson covered the 8K course in 25:28.2, good for 78th place. Harrison Knowlton was the next runner to cross the finish line in 125th place (25:45.3), while Jonathan Perlman stopped the clock in 152nd (25:54.2). Matt D'Aquila was right behind in 155th place with a time of 25:54.4 to round out the scorers. Also running for Middlebury was Miles Meijer in 200th place (26:10.4) and Andrew Michelson in 261st place (27:05.4).

Washington-St. Louis won the women's title with 98 points just ahead of runner-up Johns Hopkins with 99 points. MIT was third (247), while the Panthers ended the meet with 301 points to finish eighth. Paige Lawler of WashU claimed the individual women's title with a run of 20:55.0.

Kelly paced the Panther women, placing 27th overall with a time of 21:48.2 out of the 279 competitors. Finishing in 37th place was Cassie Kearney, who covered the 6K course in 21:55.7. Katherine Glew was next for the Panthers in 91st place (22:28.9), followed by Claire Gomba in 109th place (22:37.6). Completing the scorers was Tasha Greene, who turned in a 157th-place finish with a mark of 22:57.3. Also competing for Middlebury were Abigail Nadler in 181st place (23:08.7) and Tate Serletti in 259th place (24:11.2).
