The Middlebury cross country teams each ran their way to first-place finishes while hosting the 2018 Aldrich Invitational. The sixth-ranked women had six runners in the top 10 and the eighth-ranked men recorded four of the top five place winners on Saturday. The women finished with 18 points followed by Vermont with 49, while the men collected 17 points with Vermont a distant second with 57. The Panthers return to action next Saturday at the Williams' Purple Valley Classic.
Harrison Knowlton topped the field of 104 runners in the 8K on the men's side, finishing with a swift time of 26:29. He was followed closely by teammate Miles Meijer in second place (29:31), while Matt D'Aquila was third in 26:37.6. Henry Fleming was the fourth Panther to finish and fifth overall with a time of 26:56, as Alexander Kessler rounded out Middlebury's scorers with a sixth-place time of 27:07.5.
On the women's side, Rory Kelly paced the field in the 5K race with a top time of 19:30.9, with Katherine Glew in the second slot with a time of 19:39.5. Cassie Kearney was third for the Panthers in 19:53.1, while Phoebe Colvin Oehmig crossed the finish line in fifth place in 20:09.3. Middlebury's fifth scorer among the 76 competitors was Claire Gomba in seventh place (20:19.9).
