  • Panther Cross Country Teams Honored for Classroom Work

    The Middlebury cross country teams were honored by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for their work in the classroom. The Panther women compiled a 3.59 team grade point average, while the men finished with a 3.47 GPA.
  • NESCAC Fall All-Academic Team Members Honored

    The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) has announced its 2016 Fall All-Academic Selections. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.40. A transfer student must have completed one year of study at the institution. The following are Middlebury's 99 representatives, the highest total among the 11 conference institutions.
  • NESCAC Fall All-Sportsmanship Teams Announced

    The New England Small College Athletic Conference announced its Fall All-Sportsmanship Team for each fall sport sponsored by the conference. The All-Sportsmanship Team is composed of one student-athlete from each institution for each sport and is selected by the players and coaches from their respective team for their positive contributions to sportsmanship. The student-athlete selected must be in good academic standing and a member of the team at the conclusion of the season in order to be eligible for selection.
  • Panther Cross Country Teams Compete at NCAA Meet

    The Middlebury cross country teams took part in the NCAA Championship meets hosted by Spalding University and the Louisville Sports Commission at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, Kentucky. The Panther women finished 14th among 32 teams, while the men's squad was 24th in a 32-team race. Abigail Nadler earned All-American honors with her 15th-place finish. The Johns Hopkins women and the North Central (Ill.) men each took home team national crowns.
  • Panther Cross Country Teams Headed to NCAA Championships

    The Middlebury College men's and women's cross country teams will take part in the 2016 NCAA Championship races hosted by Spalding University and the Louisville Sports Commission. The events will take place on November 19 at the E.P. “Tom” Sawyer Park in Louisville, Kentucky. The women's race will begin at 11:00 a.m. followed by the men's race at 12:00 p.m.
  • Cross Country Teams Both Finish Fourth at NCAA Regionals

    The Middlebury cross country teams took part in the NCAA Regional race hosted by Westfield State University at Stanley Park. The women finished fourth among 59 teams competing, while the men were also fourth among 56 squads. Both teams must wait to see if they will receive a bid to the NCAA Championship meet next Saturday in Louisville, Kentucky at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park.
  • Men Tie for Third, Women Fourth at NESCAC Championship Meets

    The Middlebury cross country teams took part in the NESCAC Championship races Saturday hosted by Colby College at Quarry Road Trails. The 21st-ranked Panther men finished in a tie for third with Tufts, scoring 126 points in the 11-team race, while the eighth-ranked women turned in a fourth-place effort with 113 points. Middlebury returns to action on November 12 at the NCAA Regional Championships hosted by Westfield State.
  • Panther Teams Garner Runner-Up Finishes at Conn. College Invite

    The Middlebury men's and women's cross country teams each ran to runner-up team finishes on Saturday at the Connecticut College Invitational contested at Harkness Park. The ninth-ranked Panther women had 70 points out of 21 teams racing, finishing behind team champion Tufts with 63 points, while the 22nd-ranked men were second of 20 teams with 84 points, as Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (79) garnered the team title.
  • Panthers Post Strong Performances at Lehigh’s Paul Short Run

    Select members of the Middlebury men's and women's cross country teams participated in the College Open Brown races as part of the 43rd annual Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh (Pa.). The Paul Short run, one of the largest meets in the nation with more than 6,000 athletes from over 450 competing teams, was contested Saturday on the Goodman Cross Country Course. Taking part in races filled with teams from Division I as well some Division II and III representatives, the eighth-ranked Panther women finished fourth of 42 teams competing with 205 points, while the men were seventh of 45 with 256.
  • Panther Cross Country Teams Capture State Titles

    The Middlebury cross country teams swept the Vermont State Championship meets hosted by St. Michael’s College on Friday afternoon. The eighth-ranked Panther women earned 26 points in the seven-team meet, 34 points better than second-place Norwich. The men concluded the seven-team race with 18 points and five of the first six places, besting second-place Norwich by 33 points. Other members of the respective teams will run tomorrow at the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh.
  • Middlebury Cross Country Teams Compete at Purple Valley Classic

    The Middlebury cross country teams both turned in strong performances at the Purple Valley Classic hosted by Williams Saturday afternoon at the Mt. Greylock Regional High School course in Massachusetts. The men placed seventh in the 23-team field with 204 points, while the eighth-ranked Panther women were 10th out of 23 programs with 221 points.
  • Panther Cross Country Teams Take Part in Dartmouth Invitational

    The Middlebury cross country teams began their respective 2016 seasons by competing at the Dartmouth Invitational at the Hanover Country Club. The women, ranked eighth nationally, finished second of three teams behind host Dartmouth, while the 21st-ranked men were third of four squads in back of the host Big Green and runner-up UMass Lowell. After two weeks off from competition, Middlebury returns to action Saturday, September 24 when it races in the Purple Valley Classic at Williams.

    The Middlebury men’s cross country team features a mixture of seasoned veterans along with talented newcomers in 2016 after a recent run of top-25 finishes nationally. Following a 24th-place finish last fall during the NCAA Championship meet in Wisconsin, the squad looks to improve its finish this year in Louisville, Kentucky.
