Men Post Strong Third-Place Finish, Women Fourth at ECAC Championships

The Middlebury cross country teams took part in the ECAC Championships at Mt. Greylock High School hosted by Williams. In an event where both teams rested their top runners, the Panther men finished third with 117 points behind fifth-ranked Amherst (53) and second-ranked Williams (77) in the 40-team race. The eighth-ranked Middlebury women wound up fourth with 78 points among 46 teams competing.

Sam Klockenkemper led the men's squad, covering the 8K course with a time of 27:05.72, good for 10th place. Next to cross the line for the Panthers was Kevin Serrao in 15th place (27:10.60), while Harrison Knowlton stopped the clock in 18th (27:25.11). Benjamin Hill finished the event in 25th place (27:34.37), while Andrew Michelson rounded out the men's scorers in a field of 277 participants with a 50th-place finish (28:00.20).

Robin Vincent led five Panthers in the top 20 to the line, completing the 6,000-meter course in 23:19.35 for fifth place. Alyssa Taylor led a tightly-bunched quartet of Panthers to the line in 16th (23:49.74), while Olivia Artaiz was right behind her in 18th (23:58.43). Caroline Guiot and Claire Gomba rounded out the scorers in 19th (23:58.74) and 20th (24:00.34), respectively, in a race that featured 311 runners.

The Panthers will return to the course next Saturday when they participate in the NCAA Regional hosted by Connecticut College. The women take to the course at 11:00 a.m., while the men run at 12:30 p.m.
