The Middlebury cross country teams began their respective 2015 seasons by competing at the Dartmouth Invitational at the Hanover Country Club. The women, ranked third nationally, finished third of five teams, while the 16th-ranked men were fifth of five squads in a meet comprised of Division I, II and III teams. Middlebury returns to action next Saturday when it hosts the annual Aldrich Invitational. The women's race will begin at 12:00 p.m., while the men will begin at 1:00 p.m.

On a course that is traditionally tough and hilly, Katherine Tercek led a tightly-bunched group of Panther women to the finish line. In a 6K race comprised of 68 women, Tercek crossed the stripe in 15th (23:02.97), while Addis Fouche-Channer stopped the clock in 19th (23:27.68). Robin Vincent was next in 21st (23:31.49), while Adrian Walsh (23rd, 23:36.97) and Erzsie Nagy (26th, 23:52.91) completed the scorers.

During the men's race consisting of 78 participants, Sam Klockenkemper led the Panther scorers with a 33rd-place finish (26:17.42) over the 8K course. Sebastian Matt was the next to cross in 38th place (26:22.61), while Brian Rich wound up 43rd (26:36.79). Sam Cartwright was just seconds behind in 44th place (26:45.91), while Tim McGovern rounded out the scorers for the men via a 46th-place effort (26:51.62).
