  • Panther Cross Country Teams Honored by USTFCCCA for Classroom Work

    The Middlebury cross country teams were honored by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for their work in the classroom. The Panther women compiled a 3.47 team grade point average, while the men finished with a 3.42 GPA.
  • NESCAC Fall All-Sportsmanship Team Announced

    The New England Small College Athletic Conference announced its Fall All-Sportsmanship Team for each fall sport sponsored by the conference. The All-Sportsmanship Team is composed of one student-athlete from each institution for each sport and is selected by the players and coaches from their respective team for their positive contributions to sportsmanship. The student-athlete selected must be in good academic standing and a member of the team at the conclusion of the season in order to be eligible for selection.
  • NESCAC Fall All-Academic Team Announced

    The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) has announced its 2015 Fall All-Academic Selections. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.35. A transfer student must have completed one year of study at the institution. The following are Middlebury’s 92 representatives.
  • Nadler & Matt Earn All-American Honors at NCAA Cross Country Championships

    The Middlebury cross country teams took part in the NCAA Championship meets hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh at the Lake Breeze Golf Course in Winneconne, Wisconsin. The Panther women finished eighth among 32 teams, while the men's squad was 24th in a 32-team race. Sebastian Matt and Abigail Nadler each earned All-American honors with their respective finishes. The Williams women and the Wisconsin-Eau Claire men each took home team national crowns.
  • Cross Country Teams Headed to NCAA Championships

    The Middlebury College men's and women's cross country teams will take part in the 2015 NCAA Championship races hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. The events will take place on November 21 at the Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne, Wisconsin. The women's race will begin at 12:00 p.m. followed by the men's race at 1:00 p.m. local time.
  • Men's Cross Country Team Finishes Sixth at NCAA Regionals, Women Third

    The Panther cross country teams took part in the NCAA Regional race hosted by Connecticut College at Harkness Memorial State Park. The women finished third among 56 teams competing, while the men were sixth among 55 squads. The Middlebury women will advance to the NCAA Championships, while the men also received a bid.
  • Men Post Strong Third-Place Finish, Women Fourth at ECAC Championships

    The Middlebury cross country teams took part in the ECAC Championships at Mt. Greylock High School hosted by Williams. In an event where both teams rested their top runners, the Panther men finished third with 117 points behind fifth-ranked Amherst (53) and second-ranked Williams (77) in the 40-team race. The eighth-ranked Middlebury women wound up fourth with 78 points among 46 teams competing.
  • Three Panthers Named to All-NESCAC Cross Country Teams

    Three members of the Middlebury College cross country teams have earned All-NESCAC honors based on their performance Saturday at the 2015 NESCAC Championships hosted by Wesleyan. Rookie Abigail Nadler (Chicago, Ill.) was named to the All-NESCAC first team, while senior Adrian Walsh (Bozeman, Mont.) was a second-team selection for the women. On the men’s side, senior Sebastian Matt (New Albany, Ohio) was a second-team honoree.
  • Women Third, Men Fifth at NESCAC Championship Meets

    The Middlebury cross country teams took part in the NESCAC Championship races hosted by Wesleyan University at Long Lane Farm. The Panther women placed third in the 11-team race, while the men turned in a fifth-place finish. Middlebury is back in action next weekend at the ECAC Championships.
  • Men's Cross Country Races for Third Overall NESCAC Championship

    The Middlebury men's cross country team will vye for its third NESCAC title in program history when Wesleyan hosts the 2015 NESCAC Cross Country Championships this Saturday, October 31 at Long Lane Farm in Middletown, Connecticut. The 33rd annual meet begins with the women's 6-kilometer race at noon followed by the men's 8-kilometer race at 1:00 p.m.
  • Men Win, Women Third at Albany Invitational XCountry Meets

    The Middlebury cross country teams took part in the Albany Invitational on Saturday, competing against teams from Divisions I, II and III. The Panther men took home the title in a 14-team field, while the women were third out of 13 teams. Middlebury returns to action in two weeks at the NESCAC Championships hosted by Wesleyan.
  • Men Third Among DIII Teams at Open New England Championships

    The Middlebury women's cross country team finished second among Division III teams competing and 10th overall, while the men's squad was third and 12th during the 2015 Open New England Championships at Franklin Park in Boston. Each field featured nearly 40 teams from all three NCAA divisions.
  • Panther Cross Country Teams Capture State Titles

    The Middlebury cross country teams swept the Vermont State Championship meets hosted by Johnson State College on Saturday afternoon. The fifth-ranked women earned a perfect 15 points in the six-team meet, 53 points better than second-place Norwich. The men concluded the meet with 21 points, besting second-place Norwich by 41. The teams return to action next Saturday at the Open New England Championships.
  • Select Panthers Compete at Lehigh’s Paul Short Run

    Select members of the Middlebury men's and women's cross country teams participated in the College Open Gold races as part of the 42nd annual Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh. The Paul Short run, one of the largest cross country meets in the nation with more than 5,500 athletes from over 400 competing teams, was contested Friday on the Goodman Cross Country Course. Taking part in races filled with teams from mainly Division I as well some Division II and III representatives, the fifth-ranked Panther women finished 19th of 35 teams competing with 510 points, while the men were 23rd of 27 with 629.
  • Cross Country Women Second, Men Sixth at Purple Valley Classic

    The Panther cross country teams both turned in strong performances at the Purple Valley Classic hosted by Williams on a pleasant Saturday afternoon at the Mt. Greylock Regional High School course. The women, who entered the weekend ranked seventh nationally, finished second in the event with 66 points behind only sixth-ranked Williams’ point total of 39, while the Middlebury men, ranked 26th, were sixth of 22 teams with 154 points.
  • Cross Country Teams Sweep Aldrich Invitational

    The Middlebury cross country teams swept the Aldrich Invitational on Saturday, as both teams cruised to victories in their only home event of the season. The men placed eight runners in the top nine, while the women owned 15 of the top 16 finishers. The Panthers return to action next Saturday at Williams’ Purple Valley Classic.
  • Panther Cross Country Teams Take Part in Dartmouth Invitational

    The Middlebury cross country teams began their respective 2015 seasons by competing at the Dartmouth Invitational at the Hanover Country Club. The women, ranked third nationally, finished third of five teams, while the 16th-ranked men were fifth of five squads in a meet comprised of Division I, II and III teams. Middlebury returns to action next Saturday when it hosts the annual Aldrich Invitational. The women's race will begin at 12:00 p.m., while the men will begin at 1:00 p.m.

    The Middlebury men’s cross country team has its sights set on higher and loftier aspirations in 2015 after a recent run of top-15 finishes nationally. Following a seventh-place finish in 2013 and 13th place a season ago during the NCAA Championship meets, the squad looks to improve its finish this year in Winnecone, Wisconsin.
  • Schilit Named Cross Country/Track & Field Assistant Coach

    Middlebury College has announced the hiring of Jordan Schilit as the men’s and women’s cross country and track & field assistant coach. Schilit comes to Middlebury from a semi-professional club known as “Team Run Eugene” (TRE) based in Oregon, where he served in a similar position last year.
