  • Panther Cross Country Teams Honored by USTFCCCA for Classroom Work

    The Middlebury cross country teams were honored by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for their work in the classroom. The women compiled a 3.72 team grade point average, the fourth-best mark in Division III, while the men ranked 15th with a 3.54 GPA.
  • All-NESCAC Academic Team Announced

    The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) has announced its 2014 Fall All-Academic Selections. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.35. A transfer student must have completed one year of study at the institution. The following are Middlebury’s representatives.
  • Women Sixth, Men 13th at NCAA Championships

    The Middlebury cross country teams took part in the 2014 NCAA Championships hosted by Wilmington College (Ohio) and the Warren County Convention and Visitor's Bureau. The races were contested at the Golf Center at King's Island in Mason, Ohio. The Middlebury women finished the day sixth among 32 teams, while the Panther men were 13th among 32 competing squads.
  • Cross Country Teams Headed To NCAA Championships

    The Middlebury College men’s and women’s cross country teams will take part in the 2014 NCAA Championship races hosted by Wilmington College (Ohio) and the Warren County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. The events will take place on November 22 at the Golf Center at King’s Island in Mason, Ohio. The men’s race will begin at 11:00 a.m. followed by the women’s race at 12:30 p.m.
  • Women Post Runner-Up Finish at NCAA Regional Meet, Men Fifth

    The Middlebury cross country teams competed Saturday in the NCAA New England Regional hosted by Williams College at Mt. Greylock Regional High School. The third-ranked women's team raced to runner-up team honors, scoring 65 points behind only champion and fourth-ranked MIT's 40, and automatically qualified as a team for the NCAA Championships hosted by Wilmington College in southwestern Ohio. The 12th-ranked men finished fifth with 136 points and hope to gain an at-large berth to next Saturday's national meet.
  • Women Finish Third, Men Sixth at ECAC Championships

    The Middlebury cross country teams took part in the ECAC Championships at Stanley Park hosted by Westfield State in Massachusetts. In an event where both teams rested their top runners, the third-ranked Panther women finished third with 85 points behind sixth-ranked Williams (48) and the University of New England (60) in the 48-team race. The Middlebury men finished the event sixth among 43 teams competing.
  • Maxwell Leads Six Panthers on All-NESCAC Cross Country Teams - Wilkerson Selected Women’s Coach of the Year

    A total of six members of the Middlebury College cross country teams have earned All-NESCAC honors based on their performance Saturday at the 2014 championships hosted by the Panthers. Four women and two men were honored, including senior Alison Maxwell (Port Angeles, Wash.) who was named the Women’s Most Outstanding Performer. In addition, Middlebury head coach Nicole Wilkerson was named the NESCAC Women's Coach of the Year for the second-straight year.
  • Women's Cross Country Wins NESCAC Championship, Men Place Third

    Playing host to the NESCAC Cross Country Championships for the first time since 2003, the Middlebury women's cross country team claimed its 13th overall title, while the men finished a strong third on a windy and cool Saturday in Vermont. The women, ranked third nationally, scored 38 points to edge seventh-ranked and runner-up Williams' 47. The Middlebury men, ranked ninth nationally, had 80 points behind champion and third-ranked Williams (39) and seventh-ranked Colby (76).

  • Cross Country Teams Both Win Albany Invitational

    The Middlebury cross country teams participated at the Albany Invitational on Saturday, competing against teams from Divisions I and III. Both Panther squads won their respective races, as the third-ranked women were first among 10 teams. The Middlebury men, ranked 12th nationally, were the top finishers among nine squads competing.

    A day after being named the NESCAC Runners of the Week, Middlebury College cross country seniors Wilder Schaaf (Ashland, Ore.) and Alison Maxwell (Port Angeles, Wash.) have been selected as the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Men’s and Women’s Division III National Athletes of the Week, respectively. The honor marks the first weekly national accolade from the organization in each program’s history.

    A pair of Middlebury College cross country runners in seniors Wilder Schaaf (Ashland, Ore.) and Alison Maxwell (Port Angeles, Wash.) have been selected as the NESCAC Men’s and Women’s Runners of the Week, respectively. The honor marks the first weekly honor in the career of each Panther.
  • Cross Country Women Second, Men Eighth During Open New Englands

    The Middlebury women's cross country team posted a runner-up finish, while the men’s squad finished eighth during the 2014 Open New England Championships at Franklin Park in Boston. The second-place showing for the women marked the best finish at the event in program history, as both teams respective finishes were the best among Division III teams racing. Each field featured nearly 40 teams from all three NCAA divisions.
  • Cross Country Teams Capture State Titles

    The Middlebury cross country teams swept the Vermont State Championship meets hosted by Vermont Technical College on Saturday afternoon. The fourth-ranked women earned just 24 points in the seven-team meet, 28 points better than second-place Lyndon. The men came in with 21 points, besting second-place St. Michael’s by 20. The teams return to action next Saturday at the Open New England Championships.
  • Cross Country Women Second, Men Sixth at Purple Valley Classic

    The Panther cross country teams both turned in strong performances at the Purple Valley Classic hosted by Williams on an unseasonably warm Saturday at the Mt. Greylock Regional High School course. The women, who entered the weekend ranked eighth nationally, finished second in the event with 65 points behind only fourth-ranked MIT’s 36, while the Middlebury men, ranked 29th, were sixth with 152 points.
  • Cross Country Teams Sweep Aldrich Invitational

    The Middlebury cross country teams hosted their annual home meet as the Panther men and women both captured the Aldrich Invitational. The Middlebury women, ranked third nationally, scored the minimum 15 points in a field of seven teams, while the 12th-ranked men bested a field of seven squads totaling 30 points to runner-up Colby’s 47.
  • Cross Country Teams Compete at Dartmouth Invitational

    The Middlebury cross country teams began their respective 2014 seasons by competing at the Dartmouth Invitational at the Hanover Country Club. The women, ranked third nationally, finished fourth of five teams, while the 12th-ranked men were sixth of six squads in a meet comprised of Division I, II and III teams. Middlebury returns to action next Saturday when it hosts the annual Aldrich Invitational. The women's race will begin at 12:30 p.m., while the men will begin at 1:15 p.m.

    Coming off one of the most successful campaigns in the program’s history, the Middlebury men’s cross country team has its sights set on higher and loftier aspirations in 2014. Following a seventh-place finish during the NCAA Championship meet late last fall, the squad looks to improve its finish this year in Wilmington, Ohio.
  • Davies Joins Coaching Staff

    Former Middlebury College All-American John “Jack” Davies has joined the cross country and track & field coaching staffs. Davies graduated from Middlebury in the spring of 2013 with a degree in history. He was a four-year member of both the Panther cross country and track teams.
