The Panther cross country teams were in action on Saturday, competing at Williams in the Purple Valley Classic held at Mt. Greylock High School. The meet featured teams spanning all three divisions of the NCAA. The ninth-ranked Panther men were second only to Williams in the 17-team race, while the third-ranked women were third to Williams and MIT in a race featuring 15 squads.
Senior Addie Tousley (Kensington, Md.) turned in an impressive performance, winning the 215-woman race with a time of 21:50. Placing fifth in the race was junior Katie Rominger (Brooklyn, N.Y.) in 22:35, followed by junior racer Lucy Whipps (Portland, Ore.) in 21st (23:15). Sophomore Sarah Guth (Wilton, Conn) and first-year racer Katherine Tercek (Los Angeles, Calif.) rounded out Middlebury’s scorers in 29th (23:23) and 31st (23:24) places respectively.
Senior Patrick Hebble (Sudbury, Mass.) paced the men’s squad, finishing third overall with a time of 26:20. Senior Jack Davies (Grosse Point, Mich.) was next with a top 10 finish in eighth place (26:34), followed by sophomore Kevin Wood (Lincolnshire, Ill.) in 21st (27:02). Just behind Wood were senior Anthony Lee (Plainsboro, N.J.) and junior Greg Krathwohl (Ipswich, Mass.), who both finished with a time of 27:04, good for 22nd and 23rd overall.
