The Panther cross country teams continued their domination at the State Championship Meet, both taking home the titles at St. Michael's College. The women claimed eight of the top 10 individual spots, while the men owned nine as both teams rest several of their top racers.
Junior Patrick Hebble (Sudbury, Mass.) won the men’s race in 26:47, eight seconds ahead of sophomore teammate Greg Krathwohl (Ipswich, Mass.), who placed second. Junior Anthony Lee (Plainsboro, N.J.) came in fourth place in 27:07, sophomore Jeff Colt (Hanover, N.H.) followed in fifth (27:39), while junior Mac Stormont (Atlanta, Ga.) placed seventh (27:47).
First-year racer Katie Carlson (Princeton, Mass.) was Middlebury’s top finisher in the women’s race, placing second overall with a time of 19:15, just 1.6 seconds off the pace. Sophomore Katie Rominger (Brooklyn, N.Y.) finished in third place (19:16), followed by rookie Cate Costley (Williamstown, Mass.) in fifth (19:30). Finishing in sixth place was first-year racer Summer Spillane (Shelburne, Vt.) with a time of 19:33, while sophomore Lottie Hedden (Washington, D.C.) followed in seventh (19:34).
