Hotte enters his 35th season in 2019-20 as an assistant coach with the Middlebury track & field teams, specifically working with the throwers. During his time working with the Panthers, Hotte has coached seven All-Americans as well as numerous NCAA qualifiers and NESCAC champions.

Before his coaching days, Hotte graduated in 1970 from Northeast Missouri University, where he participated on the Bearcat track & field team. As a junior, he was the 1969 Mid-America Intercollege Athletics Association (MIAA) shot put champion and was the runner-up as a senior.

A native of nearby Bridport, Vermont, he is a 1966 graduate of Middlebury Union High School and a former state-record holder and state champion in the shot put.
