  • 14 Student-Athletes Elected into Phi Beta Kappa

    Fourteen senior student-athletes have been elected into Middlebury College’s chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. The organization is the country’s oldest honor society for the liberal arts, founded in 1776, with the Middlebury chapter electing up to 10 percent of the senior class each year. One of the traditional symbols most often identified with Phi Betta Kappa is the key, which the society developed in its early days. Middlebury owns one of the oldest keys still in existence – that of the first president, Jeremiah Atwater.

    Middlebury men’s tennis player Stanley Morris (Santa Monica, Calif.) has been named All-American in singles by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). The sophomore finished the fall season ranked second in the northeast and third nationally.

    Middlebury College announced its 2020 class of inductees for its athletics Hall of Fame today. The seventh class to be inaugurated, this year’s group includes people representing six different decades, from as early as 1954 to as recent as 2015.
  • 2020 Men's Tennis Season Preview

    The third-ranked Middlebury men’s tennis team enters the 2020 spring season with its sights set on making another deep run into the NCAA Tournament. Last year, the squad finished with a 19-7 overall record and claimed the program’s third NESCAC Championship in the last five years and ninth overall. The three-time National Champions advanced to the NCAA Semifinals for the 14th time in program history and made their 18th consecutive appearance in the tournament.

  • Men’s Tennis Program Sees Coaching Transition

    The Middlebury men’s tennis program will see a coaching change in the summer of 2020. Current assistant coach Andrew Thomson ’10 will be promoted to head coach, while current head coach Bob Hansen will be the program’s new associate head coach. The duo, who are in the midst of their third year coaching together, have shared two trips to the final four and the 2018 NCAA Championship.
  • Men’s Tennis Closes Out Fall Season at Bryant Invitational

    Middlebury wrapped up its fall season when it competed at the Bryant Fall Invitational. The Panthers squared off with the Division I Bulldogs for two days of hidden duals, as 10 singles matches and 10 doubles matches were contested on Saturday, followed by nine individual contests and five doubles matchups on Sunday.

    The Middlebury men's tennis team continued its fall season when it competed at the Wesleyan Invitational. Matches were contested outdoors at the John Wood Memorial Tennis Courts. The team concludes the fall portion of its season on October 26-27 when it competes at the Bryant Fall Invitational.
  • Morris Edged in ITA Cup Singles National Title Match

    Middlebury sophomore Stanley Morris battled for three sets, but fell in the Division III singles national title match to Boris Sorkin of Tufts at the ITA Cup on Saturday. Morris was the third Panther to reach the national title match. The three-day event featured Division II, Division III, NAIA and Junior College participants was held at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Georgia.
  • Morris Cruises in ITA Cup Singles Semifinal

    Middlebury sophomore Stanley Morris continued his run on Friday morning at the ITA Cup in the Division III singles bracket, cruising in straight sets during a semifinal victory over No. 3 seed Jack Katzman from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. The three-day event featuring Division II, Division III, NAIA and Junior College participants is being held at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Georgia.
  • Morris Wins Twice in ITA Cup, Will Play in Semifinals

    Middlebury sophomore Stanley Morris posted a pair of victories on Thursday at the ITA Cup in the Division III singles bracket. Morris is the third Panther to reach the semifinal round in the tournament over the last five years, joining Noah Farrell (2015) and Lubomir Cuba (2016). The three-day event featuring Division II, Division III, NAIA and Junior College participants is being held at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Georgia.
  • Morris Plays in Singles Final; Panthers Compete at ITA Regional Championship

    Middlebury's Stanley Morris won five matches over the course of three days, but was edged in the singles final during the 2019 ITA Men's Tennis Regional Championship hosted by Colby. Morris advances as a wild card to the ITA Cup at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College in Rome, Georgia from October 17-20.
  • Men’s Tennis Produces Solid Finishes in Own Invitational

    The Middlebury Invitational has concluded with the host school earning solid results, including finalists in all four singles brackets. Matches were contested outdoors at the Proctor Tennis Courts and indoors at the Nelson Recreation Center on the Middlebury campus. The team returns to action September 27-29 when it competes at the ITA Regional Championships hosted by Colby.
  • Day One Complete at the Middlebury Invitational

    The opening day of the 2019 Middlebury Invitational has come to a close. Action is taking place at both the Proctor Tennis Courts (outdoors) and the Nelson Recreational Center (indoors) on the Middlebury campus. A total of four Panthers have advanced to the semifinal round in their respective singles brackets. The second and final day of the invitational is set to begin with doubles at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday.
  • Draws Announced for Middlebury Men's Tennis Invitational

    The draws have been announced for the 2019 Middlebury Men's Tennis Invitational. Four singles and two doubles draws will be contested as the Panthers open up the fall portion of the 2019-20 season. Seven different teams will compete in the two-day tournament with action beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday morning at the Proctor Tennis Courts.
