Middlebury College men's tennis player Lubomir Cuba (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) has been named a College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) District I First-Team Academic All-District selection by the organization. Cuba has helped guide the Panthers to an 18-6 record in 2019 and the program's 16th NCAA Quarterfinal appearance in 17 seasons next week in Michigan.
Cuba owns a 3.87 grade point average as an economics major at Middlebury. Cuba is the 2017 NCAA Singles and 2017 and 2018 Doubles Champion, as well as the ITA Northeast Region's second-ranked individual. He has a record of 15-7 overall playing against the opponent's top player. The three-time All-NESCAC First-Team selection and 2017 NESCAC Player of the Year is 67-17 during his three seasons with the Panthers. He tallied two triumphs during the NCAA Regional hosted by Middlebury last weekend and is currently on a six-match winning streak headed into Monday's NCAA Quarterfinal.
Cuba will now be placed on a national ballot with the Academic All-American team slated to be released on June 21.
