  • 14 Student-Athletes Elected into Phi Beta Kappa

    Fourteen senior student-athletes have been elected into Middlebury College’s chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. The organization is the country’s oldest honor society for the liberal arts, founded in 1776, with the Middlebury chapter electing up to 10 percent of the senior class each year. One of the traditional symbols most often identified with Phi Betta Kappa is the key, which the society developed in its early days. Middlebury owns one of the oldest keys still in existence – that of the first president, Jeremiah Atwater.
  • Middlebury Announces Class of 2020 For Its Hall of Fame

    Middlebury College announced its 2020 class of inductees for its athletics Hall of Fame today. The seventh class to be inaugurated, this year’s group includes people representing six different decades, from as early as 1954 to as recent as 2015.
  • 400 Free Relay Highlights Final Day of NESCAC Championship

    Middlebury wrapped up competition at the 2020 NESCAC Men’s Swimming & Diving Championships at Williams on Sunday evening. The Panthers placed eighth out of 11 teams with 565 points. The hosts won the meet for the 18th time with 1987.5 points, while Tufts (1787.5) and Amherst (1386.5) rounded out the top-three teams.
  • One Day Remains at NESCAC Swimming & Diving Championship

    The Panther men’s swimming and diving squad is in eighth place with one day remaining at the 2020 NESCAC Men’s Swimming & Diving Championships hosted by Williams. The Ephs lead with 1,432.5 points, followed by Tufts (1,254.5) and Amherst (963.5). Middlebury boasts 421 points heading into the final day, which begins at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday.
  • 400 Medlay Relay Paces Men's Swimming & Diving On Friday At NESCAC Championships

    The Middlebury men’s swimming and diving team sits in seventh place after the first full days of competition at the 2020 NESCAC Men’s Swimming & Diving Championships hosted by Williams. The Ephs lead with 832.5 points, followed by Tufts (749.5) and Amherst (602). The Panthers currently own 285.5 points heading into Saturday’s events, which begin at 10:00 a.m.
  • Middlebury Gears Up for NESCAC Championship at Williams

    The Middlebury men’s swimming and diving team is seeking its second conference crown when it heads to Williams this weekend for the 2020 NESCAC Men’s Swimming & Diving Championship. Competition begins on Thursday, February 20 at 7:00 p.m. with the finals of the 800-yard freestyle relay at the Ephs’ Samuelson-Muir Pool. Host and defending NESCAC Champion Williams will attempt to win its 18th conference championship in 20 years. Heading into the 2020 NESCAC Championship, 13 champions return to compete at this year’s championship.
  • Swimming & Diving Hosts Middlebury Invitational

    The Panther swimming and diving teams hosted the Middlebury Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The meet featured no team scoring, as the Panthers entertained the University of Vermont, St. Michael's and Williams over the two-day span. Both Panther teams are idle until the 2020 NESCAC Championships. The women host the four-day event February 13th-16th, while the men's competition begins on February 20th and will take place at Williams.   
  • Rueppel Earns 100th-Career Victory as Panthers Compete at Hamilton

    The Middlebury swimming and diving teams competed in a tri-meet hosted by Hamilton on Saturday afternoon. The men’s team topped the hosts 167-110, but fell to Williams 184-98. The victory over the Continentals was head coach Bob Rueppel’s 100th-career win on the men’s side. The women’s squad also downed Hamilton (185-113), but came up short against the Ephs (187-108).
  • Swimming & Diving Teams Sweep First Home Meet of 2020
    January 18, 2020
    The Middlebury swimming and diving teams swept their first home meet of the new year on Saturday. The men topped Clarkson 213-75 and Union 238-3, while the women downed Clarkson 253-45 and Union 237-3. The Panthers are idle until Saturday, January 25th when they head to Hamilton for a tri-meet with Williams.
  • Swimming & Diving Compete At Bates
    January 12, 2020
    The Middlebury swimming and diving teams concluded a two-match Maine swing by visiting Bates on Sunday afternoon. The women were defeated by a 200-94 score, while the men fell 204-90. The Panthers are back in the pool on Saturday when they host Union and Clarkson at 1:00 p.m.
  • Middlebury Opens Second Semester at Colby
    January 11, 2020
    The Middlebury men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams opened the second semester at Colby on Saturday. The Panthers garnered numerous first-place performances, as the women posted a 168-132 triumph and the men dropped a 165-118 decision. Both teams are right back in the pool, competing at Bates on Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
  • Swim Teams Solid at Amherst

    The Middlebury swimming and diving teams wrapped up the semester with a meet at Amherst on Saturday afternoon. The Panther men were outscored 163-112, while the women were downed by a score of 176.5-112.5. Middlebury returns to action on January 11-12 when they visit Colby and Bates.
  • Swim Teams Down Springfield
    November 23, 2019
    The Middlebury swimming and diving teams both picked up wins on Saturday afternoon in their home natatorium. The men earned a 174-124 victory over Springfield, while the women were triumphant by a score of 172-128.
  • Swim & Dive Teams Start With Home Meet Against Conn. College
    November 16, 2019
    The Panther swimming and diving teams opened their season by hosting Connecticut College in the Middlebury Natatorium. The men earned a tight 146-142 victory, while the women fell by a score of 158-136. The teams are back in action next Saturday when they host Springfield at 1:00 p.m.

  • Foley Tabbed Swimming & Diving Assistant Coach
    July 16, 2019
    Middlebury College has announced the hiring of Caitlin Foley as an assistant swimming coach as well as the assistant director of the college’s natatorium. The Lewisburg, Pennsylvania native is a 2019 graduate of Kenyon College, earning her degree in psychology. She has previous coaching experience at Kenyon’s Total Performance Swim Camp as well as at the Nittany Lion Aquatic Club and Greater Susquehanna Valley YMCA in Pennsylvania.
