Two members of the Middlebury men's squash team began competition at the CSA Individual Championships on Friday at the University of Pennsylvania. Jack Kagan was selected to compete in the Malloy North division, while Nick Bermingham is in the Malloy West division.
In the round of 16, Kagan fell 3-0 (5,6,4) to Trinity's Andrew Lee, before cruising to a 3-0 victory (6,6,5) over Drexel's Jose Lopez in the consolation quarterfinals. Kagan is back in action on Saturday when he takes on Bowdoin's Deven Kanwal in a Malloy North consolation semifinal match at 10:15 a.m. on court five.
Bermingham fell behind 2-0 (12-10, 11-5) in his round of 16 match against Navy's Owen Davis. He battled back to win the third game 11-3, but dropped the fourth game 12-10. In the consolation quarterfinals, Bermingham topped Davis Chase of Haverford 3-0 (9,9,2). He advances to the consolation semifinal match on Saturday at 1:45 p.m. where he takes on Brown's Maximo Moyer on court five.
