  • NESCAC Winter All-Sportsmanship Teams Announced
    March 13, 2019
    The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) announced its Winter All-Sportsmanship Team for each winter sport sponsored by the conference. The All-Sportsmanship Team is composed of one student-athlete from each institution for each sport and is selected by the players and coaches from their respective team for their positive contributions to sportsmanship. The student-athlete selected must be in good academic standing and a member of the team at the conclusion of the season in order to be eligible for selection.
  • NESCAC Winter All-Academic Team Members Honored

    The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) has announced its 2018-19 Winter All-Academic Selections. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50. A transfer student must have completed one year of study at the institution. The following are Middlebury's 124 representatives, the highest among the 11 conference institutions.
  • Ghaeli Wins Molloy North Consolation Title at CSA Individual Championships

    Middlebury men's squash rookie Justin Ghaeli won the consolation draw of the Molloy Cup North bracket during the College Squash Association (CSA) Individual Championships. The three-day event was held at the Moses Brown’s School’s Nicol Squash Club in Providence, Rhode Island.
  • Ghaeli to Participate in CSA Individual Championships

    Rookie Justin Ghaeli (Richmond Hill, Ont.) of the Middlebury men's squash team will compete in the 2019 CSA Individual Championships from March 1-3. He will take part in the Molloy Cup North draw. The three-day event is being hosted by Brown and will be held in Providence, Rhode Island at the Nicol Squash Club at Moses Brown School.
  • Three Panthers Named to All-NESCAC Teams; Ghaeli Tabbed Rookie of the Year

    Three players from the Middlebury men's squash team were named to the 2019 NESCAC All-Conference teams. Junior Jacob Ellen (New York, N.Y.) and rookie Justin Ghaeli (Richmond Hill, Ont.) picked up first-team laurels, while junior William Cembalest (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was selected to the second team. Ghaeli was also selected as the NESCAC Rookie of the Year. Middlebury recently finished in 19th place during the CSA Team Championship, participating in the Summers Cup. The team ended its season with a record of 15-6 and competed against 18 top-25 opponents, while finishing in third place as the hosts of the NESCAC Championship.
  • Panthers Squeak By No. 17 Williams During Summers Cup Play

    The 18th-ranked Middlebury men's squash team edged No. 17 Williams by a 5-4 score during the Summers Cup Third/Fourth-Place match at the CSA Team Championships. Sunday's contest was played at the Chelsea Piers Athletic Club in Stamford, Connecticut. The Panthers finish the season ranked 19th nationally with an overall record of 15-6, winners of four of their last five matches.
  • No. 18 Panthers Edged in Summers Cup Semis by No. 19 Brown
    February 16, 2019
    The 18th-ranked Middlebury men's squash team fell by a 6-3 tally to No. 19 Brown (6-10) on Saturday in the Summers Cup semifinals at the CSA Men's Squash Team Championship. The match was contested in Yale’s Brady Squash Center. The Panthers (14-6) return to action Sunday at 11:00 a.m. in the 19th/20th-place match against No. 19 Williams. Middlebury squared off with the Ephs twice this season, splitting a pair of 5-4 decisions. The Panthers were victorious at home on January 5, before Williams earned a narrow win in the NESCAC Semifinals.
  • Panthers Blank Bowdoin at CSA Team Championships

    The 18th-ranked Middlebury men's squash team blanked No. 23 Bowdoin (6-9) by a 9-0 tally on Friday morning in the Summers Cup quarterfinal round at the CSA Team Championships. Six of the nine matches were decided in three games. The national event is being hosted by Yale at the Brady Squash Center. The Panthers return to action Saturday at 8:30 a.m. in a semifinal match against No. 19 Brown.
  • Men’s Squash Prepares for CSA Team Championships

    The Middlebury men's squash team has earned the No. 2 seed in the Summers Cup (C Division) for the upcoming National Team Championships to be played at Yale in the Brady Squash Center. The 18th-ranked Panthers will compete in the Summers Cup for the ninth time in the program's 12-year history, taking part in the Hoehn Cup the other three years. Middlebury has won the Summers Cup six times over the last 10 years, including four of the last six seasons. The Panthers take on 23rd-ranked Bowdoin in a quarterfinal match on Friday, February 15 at 10:00 a.m. and will continue to play on both Saturday and Sunday to determine its overall finish.
  • Men’s Squash Edges No. 19 MIT in Regular-Season Finale

    The Middlebury men's squash team posted a 5-4 victory on Saturday over 19th-ranked MIT in its regular-season finale at the Bostwick Family Squash Center. With the win, the 18th-ranked Panthers improve to 13-5 and return to action at the CSA Team Championships from February 15-17 at Yale.
  • Men’s Squash Grabs Third Place With Victory Over Bates

    The second-seeded Middlebury men's squash team finished in third place overall with a narrow 5-4 win over fourth-seeded Bates (9-8) Sunday while hosting the 2019 NESCAC Tournament in the Bostwick Family Squash Center. With the victory, the Panthers improve to 12-5 and return to action on Saturday when they entertain No. 19 MIT beginning at 4:00 p.m.
  • Middlebury Moves to NESCAC Semis Before Falling to Williams

    The 17th-ranked Panther men's squash team split a pair of matches during the NESCAC Tournament on Saturday in the Bostwick Family Squash Center. After receiving a bye through the first round, second-seeded Middlebury recorded a 9-0 win in the quarterfinals over No. 7 seed and 24th-ranked Tufts before falling to third-seeded and 18th-ranked Williams, 5-4. The Panthers (11-5) return to play on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. in the third-place match against fourth-seeded and 21st-ranked Bates.
  • Panther Men's Squash Set to Host NESCAC Championship
    January 30, 2019
    Second-seeded Middlebury will be in pursuit of a conference title this weekend when it hosts the three-day NESCAC Men's Squash Championship for the first time. Action begins on Friday, February 1 at 6:00 p.m. in the Bostwick Family Squash Center, while the championship match is set for 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 3. Trinity, which has won all 12 NESCAC Men’s Squash titles, is the top seed for the for the 13th-straight year. For the first time since 2007, the men’s and women’s squash championships will be split into two weekends at two different sites.

    The 18th-ranked Middlebury men's squash team wrapped up a road weekend on Sunday, falling to No. 17 Franklin & Marshall by a 5-4 tally in the Mayser Squash Courts. The Panthers (10-4) return to the court next weekend they host the NESCAC Championships in the Bostwick Family Squash Center.

    The 18th-ranked Middlebury men's squash team dropped a narrow 5-4 decision to No. 14 Virginia on Saturday in a match played at the Lancaster Country Day School in Pennsylvania. The Panthers (10-3), who saw a program-record eight-match winning streak end, return to action Sunday when play at No. 17 Franklin & Marshall beginning at 11:00 a.m.
  • Men’s Squash Sets Program Record With Eighth-Straight Win

    The Middlebury men's squash team won its eighth-straight match on Friday evening by a 7-2 score over No. 25 Dickinson (3-8). With the victory, the 18th-ranked Panthers improve to 10-2, erasing the previous mark of seven-consecutive victories which occurred three times. Middlebury returns to competition on Saturday when it plays 14th-ranked Virginia at 10:00 a.m. in a match at Franklin & Marshall.

The contest took place in the Kellner Squash Center on the campus of Trinity. The Panthers (2-2) have almost a month off from competition before returning to the court Saturday, January 5 for a home match with Williams beginning at 2:00 p.m.

    Led by an experienced group of returning players in addition to a solid incoming class, the Middlebury men’s squash program has high expectations headed into the 2018-19 season. Last winter, the men posted a record of 9-12 against a very difficult schedule and finished the year ranked 19th nationally and third in the NESCAC.
  • Cromwell Named Assistant Squash Coach

    Middlebury College has announced the hiring of David Cromwell ’16 as an assistant squash coach. Cromwell is a graduate of Middlebury with an honors degree in computer science and has been playing professionally since earning his diploma.
