    Jacob Ellen ’20 is a key contributor at the top of the lineup on the Middlebury men’s squash team. A neuroscience major from New York City, Ellen has joined forces with a Middlebury classmate to advocate for a deeply personal cause.
  • NESCAC Winter All-Academic Team Members Honored

    The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) has announced its 2017-18 Winter All-Academic Selections. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.40. A transfer student must have completed one year of study at the institution. The following are Middlebury's 147 representatives, the highest among the 11 conference institutions
  • NESCAC Winter All-Sportsmanship Team Announced

    The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) announced its Winter All-Sportsmanship Team for each winter sport sponsored by the conference. The All-Sportsmanship Team is composed of one student-athlete from each institution for each sport and is selected by the players and coaches from their respective team for their positive contributions to sportsmanship. The student-athlete selected must be in good academic standing and a member of the team at the conclusion of the season in order to be eligible for selection. 
  • Pair of Panther Men Play in CSA Individual Championships

    Middlebury men's squash players William Cembalest and Jack Kagan each participated in the College Squash Association (CSA) Individual Championships held at Squash on Fire in Washington, D.C. Kagan went 1-2 in his three matches, while Cembalest lost twice during the event as both players were slotted in the Molloy Cup east bracket.
  • Two Men’s Squash Players to Participate in CSA Individual Championships

    Two members of the Middlebury College men's squash team will compete in the 2018 CSA Individual Championships from March 2-4. Sophomores William Cembalest (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Jack Kagan (Chapel Hill, N.C.) will each compete in the Molloy Cup east draw. The three-day event is taking place at Squash on Fire in Washington, D.C.
  • Men’s Squash Upends #18 Bates During Summers Cup Play

    The 21st-ranked Middlebury men's squash team upset #18 Bates by a 7-2 score during the Summers Cup Third/Fourth-Place match at the CSA Team Championships. Sunday’s contest was played in at the Westminster School in Simsford, Connecticut. The Panthers finish the season ranked 19th-nationally with an overall record of 9-12, winners of two of their three final matches.
  • #21 Middlebury Edged in Summers Cup Semis by #17 Dickinson
    February 24, 2018
    The 21st-ranked Middlebury men's squash team fell by a 6-3 tally to #17 Dickinson on Saturday in the Summers Cup semifinals at the CSA Men's Squash Team Championship. The event is being hosted by Trinity at the Kellner Squash Center. The Panthers (8-12) return to action Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the 19th/20th-place match against #18 Bates. Middlebury squared off with the Bobcats earlier this season on January 12 in a match played at Maine, claiming a narrow 5-4 decision over the hosts.
  • Panthers Outlast Williams at CSA Team Championships

    The 21st-ranked Middlebury men's squash team outlasted #20 Williams for a 6-3 victory on Friday evening in the Summers Cup quarterfinal round at the CSA Team Championships. Five of the nine matches were decided in five games. The national event is being hosted by Trinity at the Kellner Squash Center. The Panthers return to action Saturday at 5:30 p.m. in a semifinal match against #17 Dickinson.
  • Cembalest, Ellen Named to All-NESCAC Teams, Lewis Tabbed Coach of the Year

    Two players from the Middlebury men’s squash team were named to the 2018 NESCAC All-Conference teams. Sophomore William Cembalest (Brooklyn, N.Y.) picked up first-team laurels, while classmate Jacob Ellen (New York, N.Y.) was selected to the second team. Head coach Mark Lewis was honored as the NESCAC Coach of the Year for the second-straight year. Middlebury heads into this weekend’s CSA Team Championship ranked 21st, and will participate in the Summers Cup. The team currently has a record of 7-11 with 16 of its 18 matches against top-25 opponents, also finishing in third place during the NESCAC Championship.
  • Men’s Squash Prepares for CSA Team Championships

    The Middlebury men’s squash team has earned the No. 5 seed in the Summers Cup (C Division) for the upcoming National Team Championships to be played at Trinity in the Kellner Squash Center. The 21st-ranked Panthers will compete in the Summers Cup for the eighth time in the program’s 11-year history, taking part in the Hoehn Cup the other three years. Middlebury has won the Summers Cup six times over the last nine years, including four of the last five seasons. The Panthers take on 20th-ranked Williams in a quarterfinal match on Friday, February 23 at 6:30 p.m. and will continue to play on both Saturday and Sunday to determine its overall finish.
  • Men’s Squash Drops 7-2 Decision at #12 Drexel

    The Middlebury men's squash team dropped a 7-2 decision Sunday at 12th-ranked Drexel in its regular-season finale at the Kline & Specter Squash Center. With the setback, the 21st-ranked Panthers fall to 7-11 and return to action at the CSA Team Championships from February 23-25 in Hartford, Connecticut.

    The Middlebury men's squash team fell on the road at #11 George Washington by a 9-0 score on Saturday in the Lerner Health and Wellness Center. The 21st-ranked Panthers (7-10) wrap up the regular season on Sunday when they play at #12 Drexel beginning at 12:00 p.m.

    The Middlebury men's squash team fell on the road at #16 Navy by a 9-0 score on Friday in the Bancroft Hall Squash Courts. The 21st-ranked Panthers (7-9) return to the court on Saturday when they play at #11 George Washington beginning at 2:00 p.m.
  • Men’s Squash Grabs Third Place With Victory Over Williams

    The Middlebury men's squash team, seeded fourth and ranked 21st, finished in third place overall with an 8-1 win over third-seeded and 19th-ranked Williams (9-15) in the 2018 NESCAC Tournament hosted by Hamilton. With the victory, the Panthers improve to 7-8 and return to action on Friday when they play at #13 Navy beginning at 5:00 p.m.
  • Middlebury Moves to NESCAC Semis Before Falling to Trinity

    The 21st-ranked Panther men's squash team split a pair of matches during the NESCAC Tournament on Saturday hosted by Hamilton. After receiving a bye through the first round, fourth-seeded Middlebury recorded an 8-1 win in the quarterfinals over #5 seed and 23rd-ranked Amherst before falling to top-seeded and top-ranked Trinity, 9-0. The Panthers (6-8) return to play on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in the third-place match against third-seeded and 19th-ranked Williams.
  • Panther Men's Squash Eyes NESCAC Crown

    Fourth-seeded Middlebury will be in pursuit of a conference title this weekend when the three-day 2018 NESCAC Men's Squash Championship begins on Friday. The Little Squash Center at Hamilton will serve as the host for all of this year's championship bracket matches, while Colgate's Huntington Courts will host select consolation matches on Saturday. The NESCAC Championship match will be played on Sunday, February 4 at 3:00 p.m.
  • #16 Virginia Slips By Men’s Squash

    The Middlebury men's squash team was edged by #16 Virginia on Saturday by a 5-4 score in a match played inside Harvard’s Murr Center. The 21st-ranked Panthers (5-7) have nearly two weeks off before returning to the court on Friday, February 9 when they play at #14 Navy beginning at 5:00 p.m.

    The 21st-ranked Middlebury men’s squash team fell to #22 MIT by a 5-4 tally on Friday evening in the Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center Squash Courts. The Panthers (5-6) return to action on Saturday when they play #16 Virginia at 3:00 p.m. in a match contested at Harvard.

    The 19th-ranked Middlebury men's squash team fell by a 6-3 score to #15 Cornell on Sunday in the team’s final home match. The Panthers (5-5) return to action on Friday when they play at #22 MIT beginning at 5:00 p.m.

    The Middlebury men's squash team had its four-match winning streak halted, falling on the road at top-ranked Trinity 9-0 on Wednesday in the Kellner Squash Center. The Panthers (5-3) return to the court on Saturday when they entertain #16 Franklin & Marshall at 11:00 a.m.
  • Men’s Squash Earns Two Wins in Maine

    The 15th-ranked Middlebury men's squash team earned road victories by identical 7-2 scores on Saturday in Maine. The Panthers opened action with a win at #23 Colby, followed by a triumph at Bowdoin. Winners of four-straight matches, the Panthers (5-2) return to the court on Wednesday when they travel to top-ranked Trinity at 3:00 p.m.

    The 19th-ranked Middlebury men's squash team edged host Bates on Friday evening by a 5-4 score in the Bates Squash Center. The Panthers (3-2) return to action on Saturday when they stay in Maine for a 10:00 a.m. match at #23 Colby, followed by a 3:00 p.m. contest at Bowdoin.

    The 19th-ranked Middlebury men's squash team concluded its opening semester at home, falling to 10th-ranked Dartmouth by a 9-0 score on Saturday. The Panthers (1-1) have nearly a month off from competition before returning to the court Saturday, January 6 for a road match at Williams beginning at 3:00 p.m.

    An experienced core of returning players along with a solid first-year class gives the Middlebury men’s squash program high expectations headed into the 2017-18 season. Last winter, the men posted a record of 13-8 against a tough schedule and finished the year ranked 15th nationally, winning the program’s sixth Summers Cup in the last nine years.
