  • Dolan & Hurst Earn NESCAC Honors

    Two members of the Middlebury College men’s squash team were honored when the NESCAC announced its All-Conference team. Senior Jay Dolan (Wareham, Mass.) earned a spot on the first team, while junior Parker Hurst earned second-team honors. The duo helped lead the team to a 15-8 mark this season, capturing the Summers Cup and finishing 17th nationally.

    The Middlebury men’s squash team captured the Summers Cup at the recent team nationals competition at Yale. The Panthers finish the season as the 17th ranked team nationally among 66 squads. Middlebury earned a final record of 15-8, placing fourth in the NESCAC Tournament.
  • Men's Squash Headed To Nationals

    The Middlebury men's squash team has earned the top seed in the Summers Cup (C Division) for the upcoming Team Nationals hosted by Yale. The Panthers, ranked 17th overall, will take on 24th-ranked Connecticut College in a in a quarterfinal match on Friday, February 22nd at 12:00 p.m. Middlebury enters the weekend with a 12-8 overall record this season.
  • Weather Forces Several Postponements - UPDATED AGAIN!

    Due to the impending storm expected to blanket the northeast, several schedule changes have occurred for Middlebury College Athletic events. The men’s and women’s NESCAC basketball games scheduled for Friday, February 8th vs. Trinity have been moved to Sunday, February 10th. The men will play at 5:00 and the women will follow at 7:00. Saturday’s games vs. Amherst have now also been postponed. The men’s game will be made up on Tuesday, February 12th at 7:00 p.m., while the women will play on Wednesday, February 13th at 7:00 p.m. 
  • Men's Squash Falls To St. Lawrence

    The Middlebury men’s squash team fell to 12-8 on the season with a 9-0 loss at ninth-ranked St. Lawrence on Tuesday. The Panthers, now ranked 16th nationally, will return to action at the national team tournament from February 22nd-24th at Yale.
  • Men's Squash Finishes Fourth At NESCACs

    The Middlebury men’s squash team finished fourth at the NESCAC Championship hosted by Trinity. After earning a first-round bye, 16th-ranked Middlebury cruised to an 8-1 win over #19 Bowdoin in the quarterfinals on Saturday. Later that day, the Panthers faced the second-ranked team in the nation, falling to eventual champion Trinity, 9-0. Middlebury returned to action on Sunday, falling 7-2 to #15 Bates in the third place match.
  • Men's Squash Looks For NESCAC Crown

    Top-seeded Trinity will look to add a seventh conference crown to its trophy case this weekend when it hosts the 2013 NESCAC Men’s Squash Championship. The three-day tournament is slated to get underway on Friday and continue through the weekend. Trinity’s George A. Kellner Squash Center will serve as the host for this year’s championship bracket matches, while select consolation matches will take place at Wesleyan’s Rosenbaum Squash Center.
  • Men's Squash Drops Tight Match With Columbia

    The Middlebury men’s squash team dropped a tight 5-4 match at home to 10th-ranked Columbia on Saturday afternoon. Columbia took a 2-0 lead before #9 Will Hanley and #2 Parker Hurst each earned victories to knot the match at 2-2.
  • Men's Squash Battles Highly-Ranked Squads

    The Panther men’s squash team took on a pair of top seven teams in its three matches played at the Yale Round Robin. #17 Middlebury opened with a hard-fought battle with #16 George Washington, emerging with a 6-3 victory. The Panthers then fell 9-0 to #7 Franklin & Marshall before dropping a 6-3 match to sixth-ranked Cornell.
  • Men's Squash Handles Hamilton

    he Middlebury men’s squash team had little trouble with #21 Hamilton, dispatching the Continentals 9-0 in a match played at home. The 17th-ranked Panthers improve to 10-2 overall and return to action this weekend with a pair of matches at Yale. Middlebury dropped just two of 27 games in the victory.
  • Men's Squash Wins Two Of Three

    The men’s squash team played three more matches last week, picking up wins in two of three matches. On Friday, the 17th-ranked Panthers dropped a match at home, falling to #12 Williams by a score of 7-2. Middlebury bounced back on Sunday, defeating host Amherst 7-2, while topping Connecticut College at Amherst, 9-0.
  • Illig Earns 500th Career Win

    Middlebury College squash coach John Illig recently earned his 500th career win as an intercollegiate coach. Now in his sixth year at Middlebury, his career record now stands at 506-314 over 22 years of coaching squash. He spent his first five years coaching at Colby, before taking over the job at Bates in 1996-97. Following 11 years as a Bobcat, Illig took over coaching duties at Middlebury in ’07-’08.
  • Men's Squash Earns Wins Over Bowdoin & Colby

    The 17th-ranked Middlebury College men’s squash team improved to 7-1 on the year with a pair of wins on Saturday. The Panthers earned a 9-0 victory over #19 Colby, before topping 20th-ranked Bowdoin, 6-3. Middlebury is currently ranked seventh nationally in the new Division III poll.
  • Men's Squash Earns Two Wins

    The Middlebury men’s squash team earned two more wins, topping #20 Bowdoin at Dartmouth 5-4, before coming home to defeat #24 Drexel by the same score. The 13th-ranked Panthers improve to 5-1 overall and will be idle until January when they return to action at the Williams Round Robin.
  • Men's Squash Falls To Navy

    The Middlebury men’s squash team dropped a home match on Friday afternoon, falling to 17th-ranked Navy, 8-1. The 13th-ranked Panthers suffer their first loss of the season and move to 3-1 on the year. The match was much closer than it appeared, as four of the nine matches went into fifth and final games.
  • Men's Squash Begins Season With Three Wins

    The Middlebury men’s squash team won its first three matches of the season, all of them taking place at the MIT Round Robin. The 14th-ranked Panthers cruised in all three matches, picking up 9-0 victories over MIT and Northeastern, while topping #23 Wesleyan, 8-1. Senior Jay Dolan played in the top spot for the first time for the Panthers, earning a 3-0 mark on the weekend.
