Three members of the Middlebury men's soccer team will take part in the New England Intercollegiate Soccer League (NEISL) Senior All-Star Game on December 1 at 1:00 p.m. The game will take place at Gordon Field on the campus of Brandeis University. Seniors Ben Potter (Chicago, Ill), Drew Goulart (Weston, Mass.) and Aidan Robinson (Gloucester, Mass.) will represent the Panthers. The trio helped lead the team to a 9-3-8 record, a spot in the NESCAC Championship match and the 13th NCAA Tournament appearance in program history.
Potter had three goals this fall, each of them game-winners, including the deciding tally in the NESCAC Semifinals against Amherst. One of this year's captains, the three-year starter concluded his career having played in 69 matches with 50 starts, tallying 28 points on 11 goals and six assists as well as six game-winning scores. A 2018 CoSIDA Third-Team Academic All-American selection and two-time all-district honoree, Potter has been named to the All-NESCAC Academic team three times.
Goulart recorded team-best totals in goals (5) and points (11) this fall for the Panthers, scoring the game-winning goal during Middlebury's NCAA First-Round victory over Johnson & Wales (R.I.). The 2017 Second-Team All-NESCAC selection has appeared in 72 career matches with 66 starts, finishing with 47 points on 15 goals and 17 assists and five game-winning tallies.
Robinson was an anchor on the Panther defensive unit this season, earning Second-Team All-NESCAC honors for the second-consecutive year. A captain this fall, he helped guide a Panther defense that leads the league and ranks fourth nationally at 0.50 goals against average, boasting 11 shutouts. Robinson started every match over the past three seasons for Middlebury as a back, appearing in 67 career matches with 59 starts.
