  • Two Men’s Hockey Players Earn All-NESCAC Accolades

    Two members of the Middlebury College men's hockey team were honored when the NESCAC announced its postseason squads on Tuesday. Seniors Owen Powers (Prospect, Conn.) and Brendan Dawson (Medway, Mass.) were each named to the league's second team.

    Fourth-seeded Middlebury was downed 4-2 by fifth-seeded Wesleyan in a NESCAC Quarterfinal game on Saturday afternoon in Kenyon Arena. With the loss, Middlebury wraps up the year with a 10-12-3 overall record, while the Cardinals advance to the semifinals, where they take on host and top-seed Williams on March 2.

    Middlebury men’s hockey player Owen Powers (Prospect, Conn.) has been selected as the NESCAC Player of the Week. The senior scored the game-winner in overtime to defeat Amherst, 3-2, before adding a goal with three assists in a victory over Hamilton.
  • Panthers Blank Hamilton To Clinch Home Game In NESCAC Tournament

    Middlebury erupted for a season-high six goals, as the Panthers posted a 6-0 shutout victory over Hamilton on Saturday on the final day of the regular season. Middlebury (10-11-3, 8-7-3) clinched the fourth seed in the upcoming NESCAC Tournament and will host Wesleyan in a quarterfinal on February 29, while the Continentals (11-9-4, 10-6-2) are seeded third and will entertain Bowdoin on the same day.
  • Last-Minute Overtime Goal Lifts Middlebury Past Amherst

    Middlebury’s Owen Powers scored with just 23 seconds remaining in overtime to lift the Panthers past Amherst 3-2 on Friday evening in Kenyon Arena. With the victory, Middlebury snaps the Mammoths (9-10-4, 7-7-3) 10-game unbeaten streak and are in a three-way tie for fourth-place heading into the final game of the regular-season. The Panthers (9-11-3, 7-7-3) host Hamilton at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Amherst travels to Williams on the same day for a 3:00 p.m. start.
  • Men’s Hockey Falls At Home To Williams, 5-3

    Middlebury grabbed an early 1-0 lead, but Williams scored five-straight goals, as the Ephs handed the Panthers (8-11-3, 6-7-3) a 5-3 setback Saturday in Kenyon Arena. Middlebury is home again on Friday hosting Amherst, while the Ephs (15-6-1, 12-4-0) entertain Hamilton the same day with both contests starting at 7:00 p.m.
  • #12 Williams Downs Men's Hockey In OT

    Mac Carso scored 2:24 into overtime, giving #12 Williams (13-6-1, 10-4) a 3-2 victory over Middlebury on Friday night. The Panthers (9-9-3, 6-5-3) and league-leading Ephs will go at it again on Saturday at 7:00 p.m., this time in Kenyon Arena.
  • Men's Hockey Picks Up Two Points With Road Win At Wesleyan

    The Middlebury men’s hockey team got back on the winning track with a 4-1 NESCAC road win victory at Wesleyan (10-9-1, 6-7-1) on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers (8-9-3, 6-5-3) are back in action next Friday night with a 7:00 p.m. game against Williams.

    The Middlebury men’s hockey team (7-9-3, 5-5-3) suffered a 6-2 loss at #9 Trinity (13-5-1, 8-4-1) on Friday evening.  The Panthers are back in action on Saturday when they head to Wesleyan for a 3:00 p.m. puck drop.

    Middlebury had a quick answer for its only deficit of the game, as the Panthers earned a 3-3 tie with visiting Connecticut College on Saturday in Kenyon Arena. Middlebury (7-8-3, 5-4-3) returns to action with a road contest on Friday against fourth-ranked Trinity at 7:00 p.m., while the Camels (8-8-2, 4-6-2) head to Tufts at the same time.

    Middlebury carried a 2-0 lead into the third period on Friday, but Tufts netted a pair of goals in less than a minute apart, as the teams finished in a 2-2 overtime tie. The Panthers (7-8-2, 5-4-2) continue conference play Saturday, hosting Connecticut College at 4:00 p.m., while the Jumbos (6-10-1, 4-6-1) are at Williams for a 3:00 p.m. faceoff.

    Emack Bentley scored with 1:22 remaining, earning Middlebury a point in the standings as the Panthers (7-8-1, 5-4-1) settled for a 3-3 tie at Colby (5-9-2, 2-7-1) on Saturday afternoon. Middlebury returns to action on Friday when it hosts Tufts at 7:00 p.m.

    Bowdoin (9-6-1, 5-4-1) scored twice in the third period to pick up a 4-2 win over Middlebury on Friday night in Maine. The Panthers (7-8-0, 5-4-0) return to action on Saturday with a 3:00 faceoff at Colby.
  • Second Period Lifts Plattsburgh State Past Panthers

    Plattsburgh State scored three goals in the second period, as Middlebury fell to the visiting Cardinals 4-1 on Friday in Kenyon Arena. The Panthers (7-7-0) return to NESCAC play next weekend, starting Friday with a 7:00 p.m. game at Bowdoin, while Plattsburgh State (6-8-1) is right back in action Saturday at Williams for a 3:00 p.m. faceoff.

    Middlebury fell to visiting Wesleyan 3-1 in a NESCAC contest on Saturday, as the Cardinals took a two-goal lead midway through the second period and never trailed. The Panthers (7-5-0, 5-3-0) travel to fourth-ranked Norwich for a 7:00 p.m. faceoff on Tuesday, while Wesleyan (7-5-0, 5-3-0) is at Plattsburgh State at the same time.

    The Middlebury men’s hockey team bid to upset the top ranked team for the second time this season, came up one goal short, as the Panthers fell 4-3 to visiting Trinity on Friday. The Panthers (7-4-0, 5-2-0) continue conference play Saturday hosting Wesleyan at 4:00 p.m., while the Bantams (10-1-0, 5-0-0) are at Williams for a 3:00 p.m. faceoff.
  • Middlebury Ices Manhattanville in Holiday Classic

    The Middlebury men’s hockey team scored at least once in each period, as the Panthers skated to a 5-2 triumph over Manhattanville on Saturday in the consolation game of the Middlebury Holiday Classic. The Panthers (7-3) return to conference play on January 10 hosting second-ranked Trinity at 7:00 p.m., while the Valiants (5-8-1) are idle until January 14 when they entertain Albertus Magnus at 7:00 p.m.
  • Panthers Fall To St. Michael’s In Overtime

    St. Michael's Matt Schreiner scored 1:15 into overtime, as the Purple Knights slipped past Middlebury 4-3 in the opening round of the Middlebury Holiday Classic on Friday. The Panthers (6-3) will face Manhattanville, a 6-1 loser to Babson, in the consolation game Saturday at 2:00 p.m., while St. Michael's (7-3-1) skates in the championship at 5:00 p.m. against Babson.

    Middlebury College men’s hockey player Brian Ketchabaw (Rye Brook, N.Y.) has been selected as the NESCAC Player of the Week for the second time in as many weeks. The senior goalie backstopped the Panthers to a pair of conference road wins, stopping 47-49 shots with a 1.00 goals against average.
  • Men’s Hockey Shuts Out Hamilton

    Middlebury goalie Brian Ketchabaw stopped all 24 shots he faced, backstopping the Panthers to a key 3-0 NESCAC road victory at Hamilton (3-4-0, 2-3-0) on Saturday. Middlebury pushed its conference winning streak to five-straight games, with four of those coming on the road. The Panthers (6-2-0, 5-1-0), are idle until its annual holiday tournament set for January 3 and 4, taking on St. Michael’s on the opening day with a 4:00 p.m. faceoff.

    Middlebury College men’s hockey player Brian Ketchabaw (Rye Brook, N.Y.) has been selected as the NESCAC Player of the Week. The senior goalie stopped 47 of 48 shots to post a 0.67 goals against average and a .979 save percentage in the PrimeLink Great Northern ShootOut hosted by Plattsburgh State. Ketchabaw made 36 saves on 37 shots in a 2-1 overtime win over top-ranked Norwich and came in during the second period of the title game, stopping all 11 shots he faced against third-ranked Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
  • Middlebury Edged by No. 3 UW-Eau Claire in PrimeLink ShootOut Championship

    Third-ranked Wisconsin-Eau Claire (8-0-1) held off a furious Middlebury comeback bid during a 4-3 win in the championship game of the PrimeLink Great Northern Shootout. The contest was played in Plattsburgh State’s Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena. The Panthers (4-2-0), who had a four-game winning streak snapped, return to NESCAC action on Friday when they travel to Amherst for a 7:00 p.m. faceoff.
  • Shapiro’s OT Goal Lifts Panthers Past No. 1 Norwich in PrimeLink ShootOut

    Middlebury's Zach Shapiro scored 1:45 into Friday's overtime, lifting Middlebury to a 2-1 win over top-ranked Norwich (7-1-0). With the victory, the Panthers advance to the title game of the 22nd Annual PrimeLink Great Northern ShootOut which is taking place in Plattsburgh State's Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena. Middlebury (4-1-0) will play third-ranked UW-Eau Claire, a 6-1 winner in the day's second game over the host Cardinals, on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. in the championship.
