Middlebury men's hockey player Stephen Klein (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week. The rookie was stellar in goal as Middlebury earned wins over #3 Plattsburgh and #2 Norwich last week. The rookie made 19 saves on Friday night as the Panthers topped the Cardinals 3-1 on the road. On Saturday, he made 25 stops to earn his first career shutout as the Panthers downed the Cadets, 3-0. Klein also helped the Middlebury penalty-kill unit kill off all nine power plays faced over the weekend.
He now ranks second in the league with a 2.09 GAA and a .930 save percentage. The Panthers return to action this weekend when they host Bowdoin on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and Colby at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
