Two members of the Middlebury College men’s hockey team were honored when the NESCAC announced its all-conference teams. First-year player Matt Silcoff (Thornhill, Ont.) was named the NESCAC Rookie of the Year, while junior defenseman Robbie Donahoe (Canton, Mass.) earned second-team honors. The duo will help lead the team into this weekend’s NESCAC semifinal match-up at Bowdoin on Saturday.
Silcoff has enjoyed an impressive rookie season, tying for the team-lead with 23 points on 11 goals and 12 assists. He leads NESCAC first-year players with .96 points/game this season, with 15 multiple-point games. Earlier this year, has earned top rookie honors after two goals and an assist at the Primelink Great Northern Shootout. Silcoff scored twice in a game three times this season, while adding an assist for a three-point effort in a February 15th win at Hamilton.
Donahoe earned a spot on the second-team as a Panther blueliner. The junior owns five goals and 10 assists for 15 points, playing in all 25 games this season. He scored solo goals on five different occasions, earning three assists in the January 26th win at Tufts. Last weekend, Donahoe had a goal and an assist in the NESCAC Quarterfinal win at Amherst. He is also a member of the golf team in the fall and spring at Middlebury.
