Middlebury lost for just the second time in its last dozen games as the Panthers fell at #12 Plattsburgh 2-1 in non-league action on Tuesday night. Middlebury returns to action on Friday, when they travel to fourth-ranked Norwich.
Plattsburgh took a 1-0 lead just 2:08 into the game with a power play goal from Ryan Cory. The Cardinals struck on the power play again at the 11:51 mark, with a tally from Vick Schlueter. Middlebury’s Charlie Strauss scored the third power play goal of the period at 14:48, with Martin Drolet picking up the assist.
Plattsburgh held its 2-1 lead through the second and third periods, coming away with the win. Middlebury held a slight 28-27 edge in shots, with Nick BonDurant making 25 saves in goal. Josh Leis made27 stops to earn the win for Plattsburgh.
