Middlebury College men's hockey player Charlie Townsend (Pennington, N.J.) has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week. Townsend broke a 2-2 tie on Sunday during the final of the 2010 NESCAC Men's Ice Hockey Championship by scoring the game-winner with just 1:42 remaining to lift the Panthers to a 3-2 victory over Bowdoin. He also assisted on the game's first goal during Saturday's 4-2 win against Trinity. Townsend has come on strong as of late, tallying 10 goals in his last 12 outings. He and his teammates will host Plattsburgh in an NCAA Quarterfinal on Saturday at 7:00.
