Senior Jamie McKenna (Lake Placid, N.Y.) and rookie Martin Drolet (Lachine, Que.) have both been named to the All-NESCAC first-team, while Drolet was also honored as the league's rookie of the year. The duo helped lead the Panthers to an 18-6-1 record as they head to the NESCAC Championship weekend at Amherst this weekend.
McKenna has enjoyed a great season for the Panthers, leading the NESCAC with 1.57 points/game in '08-'09. The senior has 14 goals and a team-high 22 assists and 36 points. He is tied for the NESCAC lead with five game-winners, while owning six power play goals (T3rd in NESCAC). The senior earned a hat-trick at Colby this season, while scoring a goal in each of the first five games of the season. He dished out three assists in a game three times this season and owns 45 goals and 72 assists for 117 career points in 95 games. McKenna is also a semifinalist for the Joe Concannon Award, presented annually to the best American-born college hockey player in New England playing at the D-II/III level.
Drolet is having a great rookie season, leading the NESCAC in goals with .76/game. The rookie paces the team with 19 goals to go along with 14 assists for 33 points, second only to McKenna. He is also tied for the team-lead with six power play goals to go along with three game-winners. Drolet has four multiple goal games this season, while scoring in six straight during one stretch. He has also spent just six minutes in the penalty box, having played in all 25 games this year.
