Middlebury Rolls Potsdam

Kyle Koziara scored a hat trick as the Panthers won the consolation game of the PrimeLink Great Northern Shoot Out with a 7-1 final over the Bears. Tom Maldonado tallied one goal and an assist, while Jamie McKenna totaled three assists.
Koziara commenced the scoring seven and a half minutes into the first period as he teamed up with Evgeny Saidachev and McKenna for the 1-0 lead. Maldonado made it a two-goal lead with just less than seven minutes to play as John Sales and Mickey Gilchrist combined for the assist.

Koziara opened the second period scoring eight and a half minutes in as Scott Bartlett and McKenna assisted on a power-play goal, boosting the lead to 3-0. Two minutes later, Darwin Hunt found the back of the net with Shane Mendes providing the assist. Koziara capped his scoring day with 3:45 remaining as McKenna earned his third assist for a 5-0 lead to close out the second period.

The third period featured three goals, all of which were scored on power plays. Middlebury's Mickey Gilchrist scored the first midway through the period as Sales and Maldonado combined for the assist. Potsdam got on the board nearly 14 minutes into the period as Adam Gebara logged his fourth goal of the season off the assist of Pat Lemay and Nik Bibic, making the score 6-1. Middlebury capped the scoring with less than a minute remaining as Sales netted his first goal of the season with Maldonado and Mendes on the assist for the 7-1 final.

Middlebury out shot Potsdam, 57-14. Panther goalie Doug Raeder made 13 saves, while Bears' goaltenders Vince Cuccaro and Mike Ehlers combined for 50 stops.

For his performances, Koziara was named to the all-tournament team.
