John Sales opened the scoring as he earned a power play goal at the 6:59 mark of the first period. The lead doubled at 14:11 of the second period as Charlie Townsend scored his first career goal.
Plattsburgh battled back in the third, making it a 2-1 game with a goal from Kevin Galan at the 11:45 mark. The Middlebury defense, paced by 27 saves from Doug Raeder, would hold up for the game's final 8:15 as the Panthers earned a 2-1 win.
