Middlebury bounced back with a 3-1 win over St. Anselm following a loss to N.E.C. on Friday night. The Panthers return to action next weekend when they host Trinity and Wesleyan on Saturday and Sunday.
Middlebury took a 1-0 lead late in the first period with a power play goal at 16:37. John Sales had the puck on the left side before sliding a quick pass across the crease to Mickey Gilchrist for the tally.
The Panthers took a 2-0 lead 11:55 into the second period with another power play goal as Charlie Townsend scored down low after a shot from the left face-off circle by Sam Driver. St. Anselm answered with a power play goal of its own at 13:37 as Mike Foley made a quick pass to Pat Porshner, who found the right side of the net.
St. Anselm had a great chance to tie the game at 3:54 as Middlebury took a major penalty, but they were unable to capitalize as the power play was limited with the Pilgrims taking a penalty of their own during the major.
Middlebury gained some breathing room at 11:06 as Mickey Gilchrist drove to the goal from the right face-off circle before scoring from just outside the crease. St. Anselm made it a one-goal game as they scored a power play goal with their goaltender pulled at the 19:12 mark. Danny Ohlson scored on a backhander after a rebound from the left side. That would be the game's final goal as Middlebury held on for the win.
Middlebury's Doug Raeder and St. Anselm's Jason Rafuse made 23 saves apiece in goal.
