Men's Hockey Tops Norwich, Advances To PrimeLink Final

Middlebury advanced to the finals of the PrimeLink Great Northern Shootout at Potsdam after defeating Norwich, 4-3. The Panthers will take on the winner of the Plattsburgh/Potsdam game played later on Friday night.

Middlebury scored the only goal of the first period as Brett Shirreffs found the back of the net at the 13:41 mark. Norwich took a 2-1 lead with a pair of power play goals in a 1:32 span during the second period. Kyle Koziara tied the game at 13:54 with a power play tally, making it a 2-2 contest. The Panthers kept up the offense in the third period as Tom Maldonado netted a power play goal at the 9:00 mark to give Middlebury a 3-2 lead. The lead grew to 4-2 at 13:36 with the fifth of the season from Evgeny Saidchev. The Cadets made it a one-goal game at 14:47, but were unable to get the equalizer.

Mickey Gilchrist and Jamie McKenna ended the game with two assists apiece, while Doug Raeder made 24 saves in goal to earn the win.
