The Middlebury men's hockey team moved to 16-0-2 on the season as they picked up a 3-1 NESCAC road win at Wesleyan. The Panthers have not lost in their last 27 games, setting up a clash with Norwich (15-2-1) this Friday night at 7:00 p.m.
Middlebury wasted little time as Mickey Gilchrist scored just 1:12 into the contest. Brett Shirreffs made it 2-0 at 11:29 with an unassisted goal. Jamie McKenna struck on the power play at the 16:18 mark of the first period for the team's final goal of the afternoon.
Wesleyan broke up the shutout at 11:29 of the second period, with a scoreless third period to follow.
Ross Cherry made 22 saves in goal to earn the win as Middlebury out shot Wesleyan 44-23.
