Men's Basketball Cruises Past Medgar Evers Into Tourney Final

Middlebury cruised to a 99-45 victory over Medgar Evers College in the opening round of the Bridgewater State Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the Tinsley Center. The Panthers (3-0) will take on Clark in the tournament championship game on Sunday afternoon at 2:00, while Medgar Evers (1-2) will face host Bridgewater State in the consolation game at noon.

Dylan Sinnickson led the victorious Panthers with 20 points and 14 rebounds as he recorded his third double-double in as many games. Sinnickson was 3-5 from three-point range and five of his game-high 14 boards came off the offensive glass. Hunter Merryman added 21 points on 6-12 shooting including 5-9 from behind the arc. Matt St. Amour, Bryan Jones and Connor Huff each scored eight points in the game, as Jake Brown added seven assists.

Middlebury scored the first 11 points of the contest and never looked back. The Panthers led 59-22 at the intermission and their largest lead of the game was the final 54-point differential.

Middlebury connected on 11-23 (48%) three-point attempts, including a sizzling 61% (11-18) in the first half. Middlebury also forced 25 turnovers and held the Cougars to 27% (17-64) shooting from the floor and 0-9 from behind the arc.

Matthew Walker paced Medgar Evers with 11 points with seven of those coming from the free throw line. Mark Hudson added 10 points on 5-9 shooting, while Valin Williams pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds.
