Burke enters his second season as the assistant/pitching coach in 2019-20. Prior to Middlebury, he competed for six seasons in professional baseball in the Colorado Rockies' minor league organization, making it as high as the AAA level.
During his minor-league days, Burke posted a combined record of 18-24 with a 4.31 earned run average in 344.2 innings and 279 strikeouts. He missed the entire 2017 season due to an Achilles tendon tear in January. Burke was a member of the New Britain Bees pitching staff in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball in the summer of 2018.
A college standout at Virginia Tech, Burke tossed 104 innings during the 2013 season, winning 11 games. He was named to the NCAA Blacksburg Regional All-Tournament Team and was a semifinalist for the Gregg Olson Award, given to the National Comeback Player of the Year.
