Middlebury College skiers Caroline Bartlett (Toronto, Ont.) and Erik Arvidsson (Woodside, Calif.) have been selected as the Eastern Intercollegiate Skiing Association (EISA) Alpine Skiers of the Week. The pair helped the Middlebury ski teams win their own carnival, claiming a weekend win for the first time since 2008, when they captured the Vermont Carnival.
On Friday, Arvidsson earned his first collegiate win for the Panthers at the Snow Bowl, taking home the slalom title with a time of 1:37.84. The next day, the sophomore helped lead the men's alpine team to win the giant slalom. Arvidsson completed the weekend sweep with a time of 2:05.87 in his two trips down the mountain to capture the GS title.
Bartlett paced the Panther women during Saturday's with a giant slalom victory. The triumph was the fifth giant slalom win of her career, with three coming during the Middlebury Carnival. The senior covered the two runs Saturday with a time of 2:12.57. During Friday's slalom, Bartlett came in with a time of 1:45.58 to place sixth overall.
Arvidsson and Bartlett along with their teammates return to action this Friday and Saturday when they compete in the Bates Carnival. The event will also serve as the EISA Championships.
