The Middlebury ski team finished third overall at the UNH Carnival, which concluded on Saturday afternoon. Dartmouth won the event with 986 points, followed by Vermont (849) and the Panthers (738). Alpine races were held at Cannon Mountain, while nordic races were contested at the Jackson Ski Touring Center. The teams return to action in two weeks at the University of Vermont Carnival.
Erik Arvidsson had another stellar performance for the men's alpine team, tying a career best with a second-place finish with a time of 1:45.16 in the slalom. Max Stamler was next in 19th place with a time of 1:49.74, followed by Pate Campbell in 46th place (57.76).
Lucia Bailey paced the women on Saturday, covering the course with a two-run time of 1:54.68, good for eighth place. Madison Lord was the team's next-best racer in 14th place (1:56.86), while Caroline Bartlett was the team's third scorer in 20th (1:57.52).
The women's nordic team was led by Alexandra Lawson in the freestyle sprints, who placed fourth overall. Coming in 11th place was Mae Chalmers, while Avery Ellis was 22nd overall.
On the men's side, Sam Wood led the Panthers by placing fifth overall. Peter Wolter was next in 21st place, while Calvin Bates was two spots back in 23rd.
