  • Cone Named National Alpine Skier of the Year

    Middlebury College alpine skier Rob Cone (Killington, Vt.) has been named the National Men’s Alpine Skier of the Year by the United States Collegiate Ski & Snowboard Association (USCSCA). Cone had a stellar sophomore season at Middlebury in 2015, winning the NCAA Championship in the giant slalom.
  • Cone & Sackbauer Take Home All-American Honors, Middlebury Finishes Eighth at NCAAs

    After winning the national title in the giant slalom on Thursday, Rob Cone repeated as an All-American on the final day of the 2015 NCAA Skiing Championships hosted by St. Lawrence. On the women’s side, Mary Sackbauer also took home All-American honors. Colorado won the title with 505 points, followed by Denver (478), Utah (471) and Middlebury in eighth place (230). Saturday’s alpine event took place at Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid, New York.
  • Winter NESCAC All-Academic Teams Released

    The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) has announced its 2014-15 Winter All-Academic Selections. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.35. A transfer student must have completed one year of study at the institution. The following are Middlebury’s 103 representatives, the second-highest total in the league.
  • Cone Wins Men’s Giant Slalom NCAA Title on Day Two of Skiing Championships

    Middlebury's Rob Cone claimed the men's giant slalom national title on day two of competition at the 2015 NCAA Skiing Championship. The sophomore, also an All-American in 2011, becomes the first men's individual skiing champion to represent Middlebury atop the podium since Robert MacLeod took home the men's slalom title in 1989.
  • Ski Teams Headed to NCAA Championships

    Middlebury will travel to New York for the 2015 NCAA Skiing Championships from March 11-14 at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid. The championships will be hosted by St. Lawrence and the Olympic Regional Development Authority.
  • Seven Panther Skiers Named to National Collegiate All-Academic Team

    A total of 276 student-athletes from 29 institutions of higher education were Friday named to the 2015 National Collegiate All-Academic Ski Team, announced and awarded by the United States Collegiate Ski Coaches Association. One of the most difficult academic teams of its kind nationally, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative 3.50 grade point average in the classroom and have competed in one of three NCAA Regional competitions.
  • Panthers to Send 10 Skiers to NCAA Championships

    The NCAA Men’s and Women’s Skiing Committee announced the 74 men and 74 women selected to participate in the 2015 National Collegiate Men’s and Women’s Skiing Championships, to be held March 11-14 at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid, New York. The championships will be hosted by St. Lawrence and the Olympic Regional Development Authority.
  • Ski Teams Place Fourth at EISA Championships

    Middlebury finished the carnival season with a fourth-place showing at the EISA Championships hosted by St. Lawrence at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid, N.Y. Vermont won the event with 1,001 points, followed by Dartmouth (782), UNH (770) and the Panthers (686). Alpine events were contested at Whiteface Mountain, while the nordic events took place at Mt. Van Hoevenberg.

    After two weeks off from the carnival circuit, the Middlebury ski teams returned to action at the EISA Championships hosted by St. Lawrence at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid, N.Y. Alpine events are being contested at Whiteface Mountain, with the nordic events at Mt. Van Hoevenberg. Vermont leads after day one with 487 points, followed by Dartmouth (403), UNH (403) and Middlebury (343).

    Middlebury turned in a strong alpine performance on day two of the 92nd annual Middlebury College winter carnival, winning the women's giant slalom, while placing second in the men's event. Vermont won the event with 931 points, followed by Dartmouth (788) and Middlebury (783). Nordic races were held at the Rikert Nordic Center, while alpine events took place at the Middlebury College Snow Bowl.

Nordic races are being held at the Rikert Nordic Center, while alpine events are taking place at the Middlebury College Snow Bowl.

    Middlebury completed the Dartmouth Carnival with a fourth-place overall finish amassing 695 points. UVM won the event with 926, followed by the host school (841) and UNH (791). Alpine events took place at the Dartmouth Skiway, while nordic events were contested at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center.

The day’s action was highlighted by a Middlebury victory in the mixed 4x3K freestyle relay. Alpine events took place at Smugglers' Notch Resort in Jeffersonville, while nordic races were contested at Sleepy Hollow Inn, Ski and Bike Center in Huntington.

The Panthers are in fourth place (359) after the first day, while Vermont leads with a total of 466 points. Dartmouth (380), UNH (376) and Colby (309) round out the top five. Alpine events are taking place at Smugglers' Notch Resort in Jeffersonville, while nordic races are being contested at Sleepy Hollow Inn, Ski and Bike Center in Huntington.

    The Middlebury ski team placed fourth overall in the second carnival of the season at the University of Vermont. The Panthers finished with 661 points, while UVM (940), Dartmouth (885) and UNH (782) led the field. Alpine races were held at Stowe Mountain Resort’s Spruce Peak and Main Street course, while the Nordic events took place at Trapp Family Lodge. Middlebury returns to action next weekend at the St. Michael’s Carnival.

    The Middlebury ski team returned to action on Friday at the University of Vermont Carnival. The Panthers are in fourth place (350) after day one, while the host school leads with 457 points. Dartmouth (440) and UNH (426) round out the top five.
  • Ski Team Finishes Third at Bates Carnival

    Middlebury turned in a solid third-place finish at the opening carnival of the season hosted by Bates came to an end. Vermont won the event with 914 points, followed by Dartmouth (854), Middlebury (720) and UNH (706). Alpine events were contested at Sunday River while the nordic racers competed at Black Mountain. The women's nordic team took home the 5K freestyle title on day two, as the men's slalom team finished second to highlight the day. Middlebury returns to action next weekend at the Vermont Carnival.

    The Middlebury ski teams opened up the 2015 carnival circuit by taking part in the Bates Carnival in Maine. The Panthers sit in fourth place after one day of competition with 357 points, as Vermont (447 points) and Dartmouth (426 points) pace the teams. Nordic action is taking place at Black Mountain, while the alpine events are being contested at Sunday River.
  • 2015 Alpine Skiing Preview

    Loaded with a talented roster of returners infused with a strong first-year class, the Middlebury alpine skiing team looks to move up the ranks this season. Last winter, the team combined with the nordic skiers to finish 12th at the NCAA Championship in March. The alpine team returns eight of the 10 regular scorers between the two genders, as no women were lost to graduation.
