Middlebury sits in fourth place after day one of racing at the Dartmouth Carnival. The men’s alpine team led the way on Friday, with Hig Roberts capturing the giant slalom to lead the men’s alpine team. Nordic events took place at the Craftsbury Nordic Center, while the alpine races were held at the Dartmouth Skiway.
Roberts earned a win in a very competitive field, covering the course with a two-run total of 2:02.59 to earn his first victory of the season. Christopher McKenna earned his fifth top 10 finish of the year with an eighth place effort in 2:03.92. Rounding out the team’s scorers was Nick Bailey in 12th place (2:04.53).
Yina Moe-Lange boasted her fifth top 10 finish of the college circuit, placing ninth with a time of 2:08.57. Kara Shaw was next for the women in 13th place (2:09.29), followed by Elle Gilbert in 19th (2:09.92).
Heather Mooney, who has finished in the top 10 in 5-6 races, made it 6-7 as she placed sixth in the 5K freestyle with a time of 15:21.20. Stella Holt was next, placing 17th overall with a time of 15:54.1, while Emily Attwood turned in her top performance of the year by placing 18th in 15:56.30.
Patrick McElravey led the men’s nordic squad in the 10K freestyle race, placing 29th overall with a time of 27:28.50. Adam Luban and DyLan McGarthwaite were next for the Panthers, earning 33rd (28:05) and 34th (28:05.1) places respectively.
