Four Middlebury College skiers earned All-American honors with their recent performances at the 2013 NCAA Championships. Junior Ben Lustgarten (Burlington, Vt.) earned the honor twice on the nordic side, while senior David Donaldson (Toronto, Ont.), junior Hig Roberts (Steamboat Springs, Colo.) and sophomore Mary Sackbauer (Vail, Colo.) represented the alpine team.
Lustgarten blazed to a fourth place finish on day one of nordic competition, finishing in the men’s 10K classical race with a time of 26:32. Two days later, he turned in another top 10 effort with a 10th place finish in the 20K freestyle race in 50:18.
Sackbauer opened the championships with a great effort in the giant slalom. She posted the eighth-best time in the second run to finish ninth overall with a time of 2:08.03.
The second day of alpine racing saw both Donaldson and Roberts earn All-American honors as their team captured the slalom title. Donaldson led after the first run, finishing the event second overall with a time of 1:39.24. Roberts had a big second run for the Panthers, earning himself a sixth place finish in 1:40.13.
