Middlebury finished fourth overall as the UVM Carnival came to an end on Sunday afternoon. The host school won the event with 868 points, followed by Dartmouth (860), UNH (744) and Middlebury (673).
On the first day of nordic competition, Annie Pokorny picked up her first win of the season in the women's 5K freestyle race, covering the course in 14:01, seven seconds ahead of her nearest competitor. Heather Mooney earned a top 10 finish with a time of 14:26, good for eighth place. Issy Pelletier rounded out Middlebury's scorers with a 17th place finish in 14:54. On Sunday, Pokorny finished the 10K classical race second overall in 32:15, just seven seconds behind the winner. Mooney wasn't far behind in fourth place (32:33), while Kelsey Phinney placed 19th (34:36).
Ben Lustgarten paced the Panther men, placing sixth overall in 25:39. Austin Cobb was next for Middlebury in 22nd place (26:37), followed by Dylan McGarthwaite in 33rd (26:54). Lustgarten improved his finish on the second day, finishing third overall in the 10K classical race in 27:59. Cobb ended the race in 24th place (29:30), while McGarthwaite was 25th (29:38).
