The Middlebury cross country teams began their respective 2018 seasons by winning the Vermont Tech Invitational. The women, ranked sixth nationally, finished with 15 points to win the title over Molloy (50) and Vermont Tech (80), while the 11th-ranked men claimed the team title scoring 15 points ahead of Molloy (50), Paul Smith’s (95) and Vermont Tech (106).
- Junior Talia Ruxin (Lexington, Mass.) paced the women’s race of 36 participants with a winning time of 19:35.59, as Middlebury claimed the first 10 spots in the race. Senior Rory Kelly (Winnetka, Ill.) finished second in 19:45.81, while sophomore Katherine Glew (Wilmette, Ill.) was next in third place (19:57.24).
- During the men's 8K race consisting of 59 participants, Panther scorers filled the first nine positions in the final results. Senior Miles Meijer (Mountain View, Calif.) led Middlebury with a winning run of 26:58.81, while junior Theo Henderson (Cold Spring, N.Y.) was right behind in second place (26:59.93). Sophomore Matt D’Aquila (Wynnewood, Pa.) wound up in the third spot (27:04.93).
