The Middlebury cross country teams swept the Aldrich Invitational on Saturday, as both teams cruised to victories in their only home event of the season. The men placed eight runners in the top nine, while the women owned 15 of the top 16 finishes. The Panthers return to action next Saturday at Williams' Purple Valley Classic.
Junior Sam Klockenkemper (Nashville, Tenn.) took home the title in the men's race, covering the 8K course with a time of 26:59.9, 13.6 seconds ahead of the runner-up finisher. That next finisher was teammate rookie Miles Meijer (Mountain View, Calif.), who placed second in 27:13.5, three seconds ahead of senior Sebastian Matt (New Albany, Ohio) who placed third. Taking home fourth place in 27:20.7 was junior Brian Rich (Concord, Mass.), while sophomore Tim McGovern (Newton, N.J.) was the sixth-place finisher with a time of 27:36.8.
Rookie Abigail Nadler (Chicago, Ill.) won the women's 5K race, finishing with a time of 19:00.6, nearly seven seconds ahead of sophomore teammate Robin Vincent (Sutton, Vt.) in 19:07.4. Placing third in the race was junior Erzsie Nagy (Albion, Maine) in 19:18.3, followed by senior Adrian Walsh (Bozeman, Mont.), who took home fourth place (19:21.8). Senior Katherine Tercek (Los Angeles, Calif.) rounded out the Panther finishers in fifth place, crossing the line in 19:24.2.
