The 15th-ranked Middlebury women's squash team ended the regular season portion of its schedule with a pair of matches Saturday against nationally-ranked opponents. The Panthers started the day with a 9-0 setback to sixth-ranked Yale as a part of the Yale Round Robin, and followed that with a 6-3 loss to #10 Dartmouth.
In the loss against Yale, senior Zoe Carey (Dedham, Mass.) took a game at #4 before falling in four, while rookie Alexa Comai (Haverford, Pa.) played two competitive games in the number five spot.
Against Dartmouth, the Panthers fell behind when the Big Green were winners at #8 and #6. Four-game victories by Carey at #4 (11-6, 5-11, 11-9, 11-5) and senior Tiffany Hau (Villanova, Pa.) in the second slot of the ladder (11-9, 9-11, 11-6, 11-6) pulled the match back to even at 2-2. Dartmouth regained the lead with a triumph at #9, but sophomore Lucy Bostwick (New Canaan, Conn.) manufactured a five-game win in the seventh position (6-11, 11-7, 5-11, 11-5, 11-9) after being a 2-1 hole.
The last three matches on the court were at #1, #5 and #3, as Dartmouth needed four games at the top spot and five each in the middle of the ladder for the 6-3 victory.
