  • DeLorenzo Wins 200th at Middlebury as Fourth-Ranked Field Hockey Wins Two

    The Middlebury field hockey team recorded a pair of victories last week over nationally-ranked foes. The Panthers came from a 2-0 deficit scoring three times in the final 20 minutes for a 3-2 win Wednesday at ninth-ranked Skidmore. The team returned home to Kohn Field and cruised past fifth-ranked Tufts in NESCAC action on a rain-drenched Saturday by a 6-1 tally. With the victories, 14th-year Panther head coach Katharine DeLorenzo eclipsed the 200-win plateau (200-50) at Middlebury. Overall, DeLorenzo's career mark as a head coach stands at 295-114-2.
  • Women’s Soccer Tallies 2-0 Week

    The Middlebury women’s soccer team recorded a pair of victories last week. The Panthers scored a trio of goals in the first half on their way to a 4-0 non-conference road victory Wednesday over Skidmore. Middlebury returned to NESCAC play Saturday, posting a 1-0 win over Tufts on a rain-soaked Dragone Field.
  • Cross Country Teams Capture Vermont State Titles

    The Middlebury cross country teams swept the Vermont State Championship meets hosted by Vermont Technical College on Saturday afternoon. The fourth-ranked women earned just 24 points in the seven-team meet, 28 points better than second-place Lyndon. The men came in with 21 points, besting second-place St. Michael's by 20.
  • Women’s Tennis Fares Well During Its Own Invitational

    The three-day Middlebury Invitational Women's Tennis Tournament featured a quartet of teams that played a form of hidden duals from Friday through Sunday. Action took place inside both the Nelson Recreational Center as well as the Middlebury Indoor Tennis facility. Teams competing in the invitational were Middlebury, Williams, Case Western Reserve and Army.
  • Women’s Golf Team Fifth During Williams Fall Invitational

    The Middlebury women's golf team placed fifth among 16 teams competing at the Williams Fall Invitational Tournament. The Panthers peformed similarly each day, shooting a 336 and a 335 for a two-day total of 671. Williams won the event with a 624 at the Taconic Golf Club. Day one saw sideways rain for most of the day, with better weather on day two, despite a cold start.
  • Men's Soccer Goes 0-1-1 in Pair of Double Overtime Matches

    The Middlebury men’s soccer team posted a 0-1-1 record last week. Williams scored in the 102nd minute for a 2-1 NESCAC win over Middlebury on Wednesday in Massachusetts. The Panthers returned home for a rain-soaked Saturday NESCAC match with Tufts, as neither team found the back of the net in regulation as well as two overtime periods.
  • Football Drops Defensive Battle with Amherst

    Amherst running back Nick Kelly rushed for 141 yards, including a 59-yard touchdown run, to lead the Lord Jeffs to a 7-0 road win at Middlebury. The shutout is the first suffered by the Panthers in 69 games, dating back to a 14-0 setback at the hands of Trinity in 2005. The game was played with constant rain, driving at times, on Youngman Field at Alumni Stadium.
  • Volleyball Drops Pair of NESCAC Weekend Road Matches

    The Middlebury volleyball team dropped a pair of road NESCAC matches last weekend in Massachusetts. On Friday, Amherst edged by the Panthers, 3-1, while Williams picked up a similar 3-1 victory on Saturday.
