The Middlebury women's tennis team opened its 2014-15 season by taking part in the annual Lindsay Morehouse Invitational hosted by Williams. During the two-day event, individuals from Bowdoin, Skidmore, Vassar, Middlebury and Williams squared off in three rounds of singles and doubles matches. No overall tournament winner was crowned at the end of the invitational, rather the tournament is meant to celebrate the kickoff of the fall tennis season.
During the first day of singles play, rookie Shannon Gibbs (Santa Monica, Calif.) highlighted the opening day with a pair of straight-set victories. Also picking up wins were sophomores Alexandra Fields (Coral Gables, Fla.), Kaysee Orozco (New Milford, N.J.) and Jennifer Sundstrom (Bradenton, Fla.).
In doubles action, the team of Orozco and Sundstrom along with the tandem of Gibbs and senior Katie Paradies (Atlanta, Ga.) both fell in their lone matches.
Several Panthers were in action on day two during singles play with competitive matches.
