Panther Track & Field Teams Compete at Non-Scoring UAlbany Spring Classic

The Middlebury track and field teams took part in the 31st Annual UAlbany Spring Classic on Friday and Saturday on the UAlbany Track & Field Stadium. The meet featured teams from across the New England region and was non-scoring.

In the women's events, the Panthers recorded a number of top-five finishes. Junior Alexandra Morris (London, U.K.) ran to a second-place finish in the 400 meter dash (59.28), while rookie Robin Vincent (Sutton, Vt.) was third in the 1,500-meter run (4:48.10). Additional efforts were tallied by junior Lauren Bougioukas (North Andover, Mass.), who ran to a fourth-place showing in the 800-meter event (2:23.11), while junior Jackie Kearney (Slingerlands, N.Y.) ended up fifth in both the 100-meter (15.82) and 400-meter hurdles (1:12.57), respectively.

Away from the track, junior Carly Andersen (Mercer Island, Wash.) tossed the javelin to a second-place distance of 125'4". Senior Emma McGuirk (Marblehead, Mass.) hit the sand in the triple jump with a mark of 34'5" for third, while sophomore Hannah Blackburn (Chapel Hill, N.C.) was fifth in the long jump at 16'11.25".

On the men's side, rookies Ascencion Aispuro (Maywood, Calif.) and James Mulliken (Westport, Conn.) led the top-five finishers as each posted runner-up efforts. Aispuro crossed the finish line with a time of 4:02.74 in the 1,500-meter run, while Mulliken was second in the 400-meter dash (50.76) ahead of sophomore Jeremy Carter (Jericho, Vt.) who was fifth (52.35).

Other top-five finishes were tallied by rookie Kevin Serrao (Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J.) who was fourth in the 400-meter hurdles (59.37), just ahead of classmate Tyler Farrell (Toronto, Ont.) in fifth (59.55). In the 4x100 relay, the Panther quartet of senior Sam Rives (Manchester, Mass.), rookie Michael Pallozzi (Sewell, N.J.) and seniors Fritz Parker (Arlington, Va.) and Will Bain (Dover, Mass.) garnered a second-place time of 42.47.

In field events, junior Ian Riley (Needham, Mass.) tossed the javelin to a distance of 167'11" for third place. A trio of fifth-place efforts came from junior Conor Simons (Westbury, N.Y.) in the pole vault (13'5.25"), sophomore Tyler Chaisson (Duxbury, Mass.) during the shot put (44'3.25") and rookie Brenden Edwards (Glastonbury, Conn.) in the discus (121'1").
