Track & Field Teams Participate in NYC Gotham Cup

The Middlebury track & field teams continued their indoor seasons at the New York City Gotham Cup held on Friday, January 16, at the 168th Street Armory in Manhattan, New York. More than 2,000 athletes competed in the meet, including athletes from all three NCAA divisions as well as track clubs and international athletes.

During women's events, sophomore Maddie Pronovost (Brookline, Mass.) was 19th of 64 entrants in the long jump with a leap of 16'10.75", while she tied for 23rd of over 40 in the women's high jump (4'11"). Senior Emma McGuirk (Marblehead, Mass.) leapt to a distance of 33'4" during the triple jump for 26th.

In the men's mile run, senior Wilder Schaaf (Ashland, Ore.) finished 23rd out of 90 competitors with a time of 4:23.29, while junior Lucas Carpinello (Delmar, N.Y.) was 30th of 92 in the 800-meter run, crossing the line in 1:59.73.
